Both japan, korea and china are way too integrated economically and any kind of military conflict is out of the question. China will
naturally win on the territorial disputes due to its sheer size and power but this japan-korea alliance is necessary for maintaining
the balance of power in the region and is a welcome step. After all the yanks won't be there for ever to protect the japanese and
koreans.

All the major powers of Europe were very economically integrated before WW1, enough so that pundits claimed that no war could possibly happen. Political interests will trump economic interest if pressing enough, and the Chinese havn't done themselves any favors by refusing to make the idea of a Chinese Asian hegemon palatable to its neighbors.

China is not large enough or powerful enough to win its disputes unless they stay bilateral. That has already been shown to be a Chinese dream, Russia and the US are involved.


A US in decline would still be a power in East Asia, we aren't seperated by much in case you didn't notice, we even have territory in Asia.

We are far more powerful than the US was in the late 1800's and we were a player in Asia at that time as well.
