First flight of KJ2000 was in 2004. All 5 aircraft were completed in 2008. All were using refurbished IL-76 airframes. Electronic technology advanced very fast in China, a more advance AEW&C with new built airframe would be added.

It is about time Y20 version AEW&C (KJXXXX) prototype should be appearing.

My 2 cent, not from grapevine.
