JEDDAH: Russia and Saudi Arabia plan to discuss bilateral cooperation during their Joint Commission meeting scheduled for the end of October, Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak said in a statement on Friday.
Novak’s statement given to Russian reporters said both countries will discuss joint projects, and the development of trade and economic cooperation in all sectors, including energy.
Russian newspaper Sputnik in a report on Saturday quoted Saudi Ambassador to Russia Abdul Rahman Al-Rassi as saying that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman plans to visit Russia “very soon” and that Riyadh is counting on the establishment of strategic cooperation with Moscow, including in the field of security.
Relationships between Riyadh and Moscow saw a significant recovery this year, culminating in a visit by Deputy Crown Prince and Defense Minister Mohammed bin Salman to Moscow, where he held talks with President Vladimir Putin.
It was previously announced on the sidelines of the visit that King Salman had earlier accepted an invitation from Putin to visit Russia.

Wouldn't surprise me if Russia sells MANPADs and anti tank missiles to Saudi Arabia. And where that goes from there.

Saudis have only one enemy and thats Iran. With US policy now seems to be tilted towards Iran, it does make sense for Saudis to look for new alliances. We saw Saudi defence minister visiting Russia and then King Salman also talked to Putin. Russia even may play a role in bringing Saudi and Iran closer to each other. As far as billions are concerned, I think Saudis would rather spend 100 billion US$ than losing control of ME. Also US will always sell them these F15. I dont see a reason why they wont.

Those deals are not recent !
they are signed before the current syrian problems.
