Not a single Chinese scientist in China has won a Nobel prize in science. All Chinese science based nobel prize winners grew up in the US or Europe. The Chinese first immigrated in mass numbers to the US in the mid to late 1800s.

Koreans did not migrate to the US in mass numbers until immigration quotas were relaxed in 1965. The Korean kids who immigrated to the US are now in there 40s or younger. Most scientists win nobel prizes when they are past their 50, 60s, 70s or 80s for discovered they made decades earlier. Koreans are recent immigrants, thats why we haven't won nobel prizes yet.

A better question would be why does China have 1.5 billion people but has no Samsung, Hyundai, LG, Kia etc? Why does Korea have K-pop, k-drama and k-film other cultural trends while China has stupid ultra fake flying kung fu films that only cheesy middle aged white males watch? Did you know that half of the components in the I-phone use Samsung invented technology?

Or when the "VASSAL" state known as the British Empire was able to subjugate Chinas +200 million man population with only a few thousand men. If China actually had militiary competency, they would have conquered the entire world long long ago due to superior numbers. Instead, you have a couple of Manchus enslaving the entire Chinese populace.

The American had to admit the failure of the "body count" policy in the Vietnam war. Ultimately, the war is not about how many enemy you are able to kill but to obtain your pre-proposed plan, the goal you setup before entering the war.

Back in 1950s, the PLA entered the war with infantry (the army) played the dominate role, air force was incompetent and no naval, they faced quite "all-around" and in-depth US forces. You couldn't expect them to fight fair battles with such an imbalance.

Historically, Chinese did excellently in whatever, whenever it's about to warfare. But that does not mean they had to do well and win in every single battle. As a proverb has it: win and loose are all-common warfare phenomenon.
