Ex-serviceman embraces martyrdom in Buner blast

PESHAWAR: An ex-serviceman embraced martyrdom and a security personnel sustained injurers when an improvised explosive device went off near a police mobile van in the jurisdiction of Ilam police station in Buner district on Saturday, the police said.

Local police said that the mobile van came under attack in a remote hilly area. They said the van driver – an ex-serviceman – embraced martyrdom on the spot, and a security man was wounded in the attack, who was later shifted to a hospital.

“This is a remote area and police along with the security forces are still conducting a search operation there,” Buner district police officer Shah Hassan told Dawn. He added that no one had so far been arrested, but the search operation was underway.

Tirah, District Khyber
- Security forces conducted an operation in Lar Bagh, Malak Din Khel.
- During the operation, two terrorists were injured in a firefight and managed to escape, while a third individual was successfully apprehended.

Two terrorists were killed by security forces in two separate operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in general area Kulachi in Dera Ismail Khan district where after intense exchange of fire terrorist Ikram was killed.

Ikram was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces including the recent terrorist attacks on Hathala police station and Rori police check post, it added.

Meanwhile, in another encounter with terrorists in general area Miran Shah in North Waziristan district, the Pakistan Army troops traced the militants' hideouts. In an ensuing exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed.

ISPR further said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists.

The statement further said that locals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support for the Pakistan Army in eliminating the menace of terrorism.

Policeman martyred in Peshawar attack

PESHAWAR: A policeman was martyred and a civilian sustained injuries when unknown assailants opened fire at them on a road in the jurisdiction of Mathra police station on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Wednesday.

A statement issued by the city police said constable Naeem, along with a friend, Asif was on way from Pir Bala Chowk on a motorcycle when unknown persons fired at them on Gham Khadi Road. It said Naeem, posted at Regi police station, received two bullets with one in chest and died on the spot. Asif sustained minor injuries in the firing, and was under treatment at a hospital.

SSP operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi, SP Warsak Mohammad Arshad along with a contingent of police reached the spot, the statement said, adding a search operation was underway to arrest the culprits.

At least three injured in suicide attack on check post in Khyber​

Car packed with explosives attacked the Qaum Akakhel Sarozey checkpoint, say police

PESHAWAR: At least three security personnel were injured on Wednesday when a suicide car bomber attacked a check post established in the Tirah valley area of Khyber district.

The SHO of Tirah station confirmed the incident and said a car packed with explosives attacked the Qaum Akakhel Sarozey checkpoint.

He identified the injured as Subedar Muhammad Asrar, Sepoy Iftikhar, and Sepoy Shafiq Narul. The injured security personnel were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment..

Previously in March, a police post in KP, Meri Khel, was attacked, which was termed a “terrorist attack”. Police told Express Tribune that a motorcycle parked at the checkpoint caught fire due to the explosives.

However, the militants managed to escape from the scene after police shot fire.

In another terrorist attack, two policemen deployed on census duty in K-P's Tank and Lakki Marwat districts were killed, while five others received injuries.

Counter Terrorism Update:

Parowa, Dera Ismail Khan

- According to reports, in the Parowa area of Dera Ismail Khan, during a confrontation between the police and terrorists, the notorious terrorists Shoaib and Nauman Shafiq of the TTP Khayara Group were El_iminated.

- One of their associates was injured and fled after being wounded in the police firing.- Both terrorists were not only involved in attacks on the security forces but were also wanted for sectarian killings.

On 27 October 23, two incidents occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

An IBO was conducted in general area Tirah, Khyber District and after intense exchange of fire, one terrorist was sent to hell, while two terrorists got injured and were apprehended by security forces.

In another incident, an IED exploded in general area Sarwekai, South Waziristan District and resultantly two brave soldiers; Sepoy Banaras Khan (age: 23 years, R/O District Orakzai) and Sepoy Abdul Karim (age: 23 years, R/O of District Khyber), embraced Shahadat.
