Defence Minister Khawaja Asif expressed strong objections on Friday to the inclusion of Pakistan in a joint statement issued after a significant meeting between US President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The statement, released on Thursday, highlighted the shared demand of both leaders for Islamabad to take decisive actions to ensure that Pakistani soil is not utilized as a launchpad for terrorist activities.

Speaking in the National Assembly, the minister turning to the relations with the United States, said Pakistan today is paying a heavy price for serving as a frontline state in the two Afghan wars.

He recalled that it was Narendra Modi who oversaw the killings of thousands of Muslims and rape of Muslim women in Gujarat during his tenure as the Chief Minister and in recognition of those atrocities, the US, at that time, had imposed a ban on issuing a visa to Narendra Modi.

The Defence Minister said the Indian Prime Minister continues to target the minorities especially the Muslims. There is an undeclared curfew in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the people there are living under restrictions of all sorts in blatant violation of human rights.

He said the Indian government is perpetrating state terrorism in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the terrorism entered Pakistan because it acted as an ally of the United States in the war on terrorism. He regretted that the sacrifices of Pakistan were not acknowledged.

The Defence Minister said the elections are due in the country. He said whosoever forms the next government, it should pursue stable relations with the United States and the neighboring countries. He stressed that Pakistan should leverage on its geographical location.

That's a profound shift in Pakistan. The Noonies originated when General Zia ul Haq allied with the Americans in the Soviet-Afghan war. And forever, the Noonies wouldn't own that mistake of their mentor Zia ul Haq. But Kh. Asif has been. In fact, even after Imran was toppled in April 2022 and Imran was using anti-Americanism to gain support in Pakistan, Kh. Asif carefully said something like 'beggars can't be choosers and we have to work with America and we will be independent of Americans when the time comes'.

BUT...and here is something everyone MUST know: Imran forever criticized Pakistani military for helping Americans in the WOT and called the tribal militants 'Apne Log' (our own people) and that the military was doing it for $$. Surely, it got Imran big support in K-P-- the Punjabi Imran fooled Pashtuns, even the Talibans, into thinking here was one of their own! Why was Imran strutting around so freely in the 2013 elections when PPP and ANP candidates lived in mortal fear??

To the best of my knowledge, it was only very recently that Imran opened his lips about the Pakistani involvement in the Soviet-Afghan war--an involvement by choice and an involvement which changed Pakistan radically and to this day. It finally took the Pakistani military to go into the Tribal Areas to cleanse the mess created by the 'Apne Log' of Imran Khan. What an opportunist and a hypocrite!!
