ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Monday admitted and apologised to the public over the increase in announced and unannounced load shedding of electricity in the Holy month of Ramazan.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with State Minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali, he said that the shortfall of electricity had increased to 7,000 MW.

Asif said that the current demand for power stands at 19,000 MW against the supply of 13,000 MW while the efforts are being made to overcome the power crisis and the situation will improve after rainfalls which may also consequently lead to a drop in mercury level.

He further explained that nine power plants were shut down, due to trips and faults caused by the hot weather, as a result of which 1,300 MW could not be supplied to the grid stations.

Asif warned that the nation may have to face the same situation if the weather remains hot and dry for which the government was apologetic.

The Minister said that efforts are being made to overcome power theft and reduce line losses besides setting up new power generation houses to improve the situation.

“The PML-N-led government is trying to add 6,000-7,000MW of electricity within next two to three years in the system,” he said.

He appealed to the masses to be economical with the electricity so that all areas could be adjusted.

The Minister said despite huge shortfall, the government has ensured smooth power supply to the industry during the last seven months for ensuring industrial development and increasing production.

According to the people, the government has failed to fulfill its promise regarding the decrease in load shedding during the holy month of Ramazan.

The urban areas continue to face load shedding for 12 to 14 hours whereas in rural areas it ranges from 18 to 20 hours as yet.

But what does being mad and angry do to change anything? People like you and me have been upset at the situation for decades, and what have we, and others like us, been able to do to change anything for the better? Nothing.

Khaa mkhaa kurhnay ka kia faida?

.
Why don't they say that they have lied to this nation in election campaign and they miserably failed to comply with their commitments. Another group of fraud politicians and after PPP.

I believe that Allah has not abandoned us, He is still watching over us, we have to make our choice, we have to walk the path.. the more we gather, the better the chances..

just understand that the choice you say, is no choice.

Unless we change, there really is no choice but to bear our plight. And I do not think we have the capacity to bring about the change needed in ourselves to improve our lot.
