PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak himself crushed the provincial government’s orders underfoot as road was blocked for his protocol and security squad accompanied him here on Monday.
According to a private television channel, two days after saying ‘no’ to VIP movements on the roads, Peshawar’s Sher Shah Suri road was completely blocked for traffic for 10 minutes as the chief minister’s convoy left from Archives Hall. Long queues of vehicles could be witnessed and motorists looked perturbed due to the security protocol.
Earlier on December 26, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary issued a notification stating that the provincial government had abandoned undue and extra protocol, restrictions and block public roads during VIP visits throughout the province to avoid any inconvenience to the general public.
The notification was issued after a 10-month-old child died outside the Karachi’s Civil Hospital apparently due to security protocol for Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minstar Qaim Ali Shah - who were present inside the hospital to inaugurate a trauma center.
