Could this result in center against state? The BJP had a majority in the capital with 32 of the 70 seats and was on a role, what changed? The whole of the BJP cabinet and modi was campaigning for the delhi elections full throtle, and yet they plumetted to what looks like less then 5 seats. What went wrong, was modi too prominent? Is this the point where the BJP starts to loose its honey moon period?

It is not really that Modi has lost. The Sanghi goons had been running wild a lot lately. Investments take time so results of a good governance take time to show on the ground. But without losing any time RSS has been doing "Ghar Wapsi" and threatening people to not celebrate Valentine's day. Lot of young Urban Indian voters got pissed off and Delhi is more than 95% urban. Also Muslims don't see any promise in congress any more so their voteswent to AAP as well.

BJP also didn't have a leader in Delhi to match Kejriwal. It was a lost battle for BJP but they were too cocky and in the process hurt themselves more by inducting Kiran Bedi who has 0% leadership skills.

Kejri won on an anti India and anti development plank. The people of Delhi have voted against "Dharma" and Development. And they shall have it.

No doubt that fringe elements in BJP needs to be cut down to size but let's be honest here that Delhi assembly elections were fought for different issues. BJP had many short comings becoz of rift in their local leadership and then people trusted Kejriwal with his promised freebies which will attract every poor and middle class people. Secondly Congress vote shares has been largely shifted to Kejriwal which also means that Congress is now a history in Delhi and will never ever come back.

Regardless of whether the election was not a vote against Modi, there is no way anyone can deny the immense & I mean absolutely immense damage that this humongous rout has done to the image of Modi. No longer is he the invincible all conquering hero, his aura is dented substantially. While the full effect will only be known in the Bihar elections, this doesn't help Modi at all. Modi has definitely been brought down a few steps from the lofty pedestal that he had achieved.

I disagree if you include Bihar here. Any guy from Bihar and with even little info about Bihar politics will tell you that Bihar politics is a very different game altogether and any party with good social engineering will win there. Even if BJP would have won Delhi still to win Bihar, they would have to do a lot of social engineering. Same applies when now they have lost Delhi, I repeat It will not even impact 1% to their win or loss. all depends on how they manage Bihar elections irrespective of Delhi result.

Even if BJP would have won Delhi still to win Bihar, they would have to do a lot of social engineering. No, i didn't mean that Bihar was a cake walk for Modi, just that Bihar was the most likely place for the Modi wave to run into trouble (because of the caste engineering politics you mentioned). This happened earlier & therefore the aura of invincibility is shattered even before the campaign. Won't be able to rely as much on Modi alone. The BJP might still do fairly well but it will have to be a combination of local leaders delivering with Modi only being the icing on the cake.

You see that IS the point. Be the Devil's Advocate. Think, what good is it do to Kejri if he gets the work done.

Say he does not do any development for Delhi - instead he spends his time expanding his base to UP, Gujarat etc. All he has to do is to cry victim of communal politics of BJP, saying that Modi did not support him as he was from a secular party or something to that effect. Cooperating with Modi on the other hand will expose him - as it is IMPOSSIBLE to meet the promises he made. He knows that.

Agree. Also It may actually help wake up BJP to not just rely on Modi wave and connect to ground workers in Bihar( who make or break parties) and make strong strategies and do social engineering ( like BJP will probably give 1/3rs tickets to Dalits in my knowledge) to win It. Though Bihar recently got some 25000 crore investment promises from petroleum ministry, It should be visible on ground. If they do these, Personally I dont see them losing else......lol you know what happened today.

One thing I will admit; AAP has changed the way of politics in a way which forces BJP to work, therefore crushing the old politics of false promises, to develop the nation, while it remains to be seen what Kejriwal will do.

If he delivers on lowering power and water tariff which is unjustly high in Delhi, it will be a major relief for the people. If he does something about the unsafe conditions in the capital, people will respect him. If he goes about working to join the entire INDIA in Swachh Bharat campaign and truly makes the city as one of the cleanest, he will be honored by Delhi people.

But the onus is now on AAP and its leader Mr. Kejriwal.
