Pakistan is declaring February 5 as public holiday to enable the country men to participate in various events and express their solidarity with struggling Kashmiri brethren.

Kashmir Day was first observed in 1990 when nation collectively prayed for the Kashmiri freedom movement’s success and later it was declared as a national holiday.
Symbolically, the Kashmir valley is known as “heaven on earth” which showcases stunning natural beauty, heavenly glimpses of different seasons and popular for its rare arts and crafts.
While after the illegal occupation of a big part of Kashmir by Indian army, the heaven of Kashmir valley was enclosed in barbed wires drenched in blood which raised the issue of human rights violation in Kashmir.
Kashmir was the unfinished agenda of partition plan of 1947 which has divided Pakistan and India into two separate independent states.
Under the plan Kashmir was part of Pakistan but unfortunately soon after independence India occupied part of Kashmir and kept people of the territory under its yoke.
However , the Kashmiri freedom fighters liberated part of Kashmir from Indian occupation which is known as Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan is extending its moral, political and diplomatic support to struggling Kashmiris as father of nation “Quaid-e-Azam” Muhammad Ali Jinnah has declared Kashmir as “Jugular vein of Pakistan”.
The part of Kashmir called Azad Jammu Kashmir is officially recognized by Pakistan as a separate state, having its own parliament, head of state and governing institutions.
The day protests against Indian occupation of part of Kashmir which is also an issue in bilateral relations of Pakistan and India since the partition.
Special cultural programmes and festivals would also be held to promote Kashmiri culture and tradition. News and entertainment channels would air special programmes, talk shows, dramas and Kashmiri songs about the oppression and brutalities suffered by Kashmiris over the years.
Educational institutions would organize debate competitions and dialogue forums where students will express their views and ideas for resolving Kashmiri-related issues.
