MIRPUR (AJK) - Jammu & Kashmir people dwelling either side of the line of control and rest of the world will observe 80th Kashmir Martyrs Day on Wednesday (today) with the renewal of the pledge to continue the ongoing struggle for freedom and the achievement of inborn right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In Azad Jammu Kashmir, there will be a state holiday on the occasion. Rallies and seminars will be the hallmark of the day to pay glorious tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs for the freedom of the motherland from the tyrannical forces including Dogra and later the Indian subjection. These special functions will be followed by protests against India for her forcible unlawful occupation over bulk part of the Jammu Kashmir state and in support of the freedom of the occupied territory from Indian yoke.

Special Kashmir martyrs day public meetings will also be held in all major cities including Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bagh, Rawalakot, Neelam valley, Hattiyan, Haveli, Sudhanoti and Bhimbher district head quarters and all other small and major towns and cities. In these special functions speakers will pay rich tributes to the Kashmiris martyrs of 1931 who were gunned down by the then dogra rulers outside the Central Jail Srinagar for raising voice for the liberation of the motherland from the Dogra yoke.

It was on this day in 1931 when the Dogra troops had shot dead 22 Kashmiris in front of the Central Jail Srinagar.
Widespread demonstrations followed by rallies and special sittings are scheduled to be staged throughout the occupied Jammu & Kashmir as well as in Azad Jammu Kashmir elsewhere to observe the day.
In AJK, it will be a state holiday to facilitate the people to participate in the events of the day from all over.
The day will dawn with special prayers in the mosques for the liberation of all occupied Muslim lands including Indian-held Jammu Kashmir and Palestine, success of the Kashmiris indigenous struggle for freedom and for the rest of the departed Kashmiris who laid down their valuable lives for the cause of liberation of the motherland from the Indian yoke.

‘Kashmir Martyrs Day’ observed in various UK cities​

LONDON - Kashmir Martyrs Days was observed in different cities of UK with renewed resolve to continue the struggle till people of Jammu and Kashmir achieve their inalienable right to self-determination.
The day was observed by Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK in collaboration with other Kashmiri social and political organisations on the call of All Parties Hurriyat Conference to pay homage to the 22 martyrs of 1931 who laid down their lives in Srinagar while protesting tyrannical policies of the Dogra ruler.
Addressing a gathering at Birmingham, President Tehreek-e-Kashmir, Muhammad Ghalib termed the Srinagar incident as an important milestone in the freedom struggle and said present struggle is continuation of same movement started on July 13, 1931.
He said debate on Kashmir in EU Parliament, Amnesty International’s recent report and passage of resolution in Birmingham City Council in favour of Kashmiri people’s struggle reflects that world has realised the gravity of unresolved Kashmir issue.
Ghalib said that India is biggest hurdle on the way to peace and stability. India’s intransigent attitude has posed a serious threat to the region, he said, adding, that world community should exert pressure on India to resolve Kashmir issue peacefully and according to the aspirations of the people. Secretary General Tehreek-e-Kashmir, Abdul Majeed Nadeem said Kashmiri people struggle for liberation of their motherland is bound to succeed.
He said those who had made Kashmir as their business to grab powers on both sides of LoC now stand exposed before the people.
Kashmiri people who had been deceived and cheated by their leaders have become aware of all the conspiracies.
He urged the Kashmiris to stand united by the true and sincere leadership to make the movement a success.
Chairman Pakistan Rabita Council UK, Mufti Farooq Alvi was of the view that India’s policy to suppress Kashmiris voice have failed as freedom loving people of Kashmir did not budge an inch on their principled stand.
Farooq further said Pakistan’s policies on Kashmir damaged Kashmir issue.
JI Azad Kashmir representative Raja Faheem Kiani said Kashmiris demand fulfilment of the pledges made to them by India, Pakistan and international community through UN resolutions. He said international community is party to the dispute and it should not absolve itself from the tragic incidents taking place in Kashmir.
