Kashgar imports 9 tons of seafood from Karachi via cargo
A cargo flight loaded with a total of 9.25 tonnes of seafood from Pakistan arrived at the airport of Kashgar in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Thursday.
It marks the first regular international cargo flight between Kashgar and Pakistan, according to the Xinjiang Airport Group Co., Ltd.
Taking off from the Pakistani port city of Karachi, the cargo flight is scheduled to be operated once per week.
The seafood imported on the inaugural flight includes pomfret, hairtail and shrimp.
In July, the city government of Kashgar rolled out a special subsidy policy for the cargo route.
Kashgar, in the westernmost part of China near the border with Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, was an important staging post on the original Silk Road and has been revitalized as a bustling hub of business and the starting point of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
