Karnataka corner!

Look, I am not here to force any language.

But it looked a bit ridiculous, when Kalaghoda was whining about Kannada language chauvinism when his head was up his own rear end.

Sorry if I sounded a bit rude :-)

I am not supporting KalaGhoda. Infact, I found Kannadigas a bit less language chauvinist compared to Bengalis and Tamils, everyone loves his language if its 3000 years old or 100 years old. I have no issue with anyone if he don't go into insulting Hindi.

English is everywhere & is largely seen as non-threatening.

I saw Kannada and English at most of the places.

I'm a little confused here. What other language did you expect other than Kannada & English on signboards in Karnataka(including Bangalore)? Hindi? There is Kannada for those who know it, English for those who don't but to seriously expect people to put Hindi up everywhere (it is around, just not everywhere) when most cannot read it is an odd ask. Nobody objects to Hindi's presence where it is put up but I guess they find it difficult & unnecessary to do it everywhere.

Mainly the government signboards and some small shops keeps signboard in local languages, you won't see signboards in local languages on shopping Malls, showrooms or Companies but English only, but I noticed every such building in Bangalore has Kannada signboards. I am not referring to Hindi.

at least Karnataka did not elect a Mamata. It's a bit stupid to criticise Kannadigas on their pride in their language When Bengalis do the same.

There are about a million Bengalis living in Bangalore (also over a million malayalees) and more K.C.Das sweet outlets in Karnataka than there are in Bengal. Hardly a city that is unwelcoming. Come to think of it, a top grossing Malayalam film was "Bangalore Days" (about young keralites living in Bangalore), didn't seem that there are many takers for the idea of a city bristling with chauvinism and being unwelcome to migrants.:)

A million Mallus? Kick them out, it is for your own good.

They contribute NOTHING.

. . .
Only in Kerala.:D Big contributors here.

Kerala is not that bad :(

I think.

@Indischer @Bang Galore Only in few states of India I saw people personifying their language or state as goddess. @Ravi Nair do you have similar with Malayalam.

No.

I have seen some dubbed Malayalam movies on TV, these days Hindi channels are loaded with dubbed South Indian movies, even the song are dubbed(sounds crappy), sometime removed. The dubbed version of famous Telugu song "aa ante amlapuram" as "aa main hoon pari pari" sounded extremely crappy. :o::o:
