I'm not sure how the whole Kargil episode is seen is seen in Pakistan, but since there were huge casualties from Pakistan side too, i wish to know if there was any inquiry commissioned to study and analyse what happened?
Its more than 15 years now and Pervez Musharaff isn't a threat to Democratic government and Nawaz is strongly in Power, if such an inquiry (if established) could be made public now.
Even in India a lot of information pertaining to the vent has now being slowly released.
I guess its about time people know the whole truth.

Fighting a few thousand paramilitary soldiers with your regular army and airforce and still having so many casualties
Pakistan is and will always be proud of kargil
so your happy for killing many indian soldiers as you were sitting on hights and we were told not to cross over the LOC but still your soldiers and para militarry jawans who were stuck on those hights after indians started shelling and bombing your postions

but you never think what your nation lost in process .... do you :azn:

and then your media cries why pakistanies are treated diffrentlli across the globe with comparision to their indian counterparts :haha:

Learn about Mountain warfare first and then speak!

There is a strange analogies with the Pakistani's.... If there are few thousand Pakistani paramilitary soldiers fighting.. then they expect India also should have the same numbers while fighting them! I don't understand this naive logic!

Battles are fought with objectives in mind! If the Objective you won, else you lost... As simple as that!

Good to know, it means Pakistan will conduct Kargil type operations again and again - which was a boon to India.

Pakistan lost 4000 men, all international prestige, solidified the LoC as inviolable for the future by global powers and finally failed to capture territory it wanted in the Kargil operation! In fact the only significant peice of land PA captured during the Kargil war was the Pakistani President House!

It is you're ex-military generals who have opined that Kargil was an unmitigated disaster for Pakistan, the only one who gained from it was Musharraf.

It doesn't work that way.

Pakistanis are brainwashed since birth about their military. Couple that with their general ignorance of anything technical.
Most Pakistanis you meet will be content with just slogans and street talk, they never talk real content.

They don't understand any specifics. For example that the thumb rule for an attacking force in mountain region requires a 9:1 ratio or that in the plains it is 3:1 ratio.

Or that despite India conquering some of the toughest peaks in the world, their Army has consistently failed to deliver any results for Pakistan in terms of land captured since 1947. Their military keeps feeding them myths to remain powerful in Pakistan.

One has to know the taste of win for that.

Lol 4 peaks these are your peaks along with 70 peaks including Tiger Hill which we annexed in 1971 and forced you to sign Simla Agreement.

Come back when you took all those peaks which we annexed in 1971 not to mention Siachin in 1984

By Brig.Javed Hussain former SSG

In October 1947, following the announcement of Kashmir’s accession to India, the Gilgit Scouts, a predominantly Muslim force raised by the British for internal security, revolted against the Dogras, and in a series of daring actions in1948 captured Kargil, Drass, Zoji La Pass and Skardu. However, in November 1948, Zoji La Pass and Kargil were recaptured by the Indians while the Kargil heights remained with the Gilgit Scouts.

During the Rann of Kutch conflict, these heights were captured by the Indians for the first time on May 17, 1965, for use as a bargaining counter in the negotiations. As a result of the agreement reached, the heights were returned to Pakistan in June 1965. In the first week of August 1965, Operation Gibraltar was launched. One of the areas used by the infiltrating force was the Kargil heights. To block these routes, the Indians captured the heights for the second time in the third week of August 1965. But after the signing of the Tashkent Agreement, the heights were once again returned to Pakistan.

On the outbreak of war on the western front on December 3, 1971, the Indians captured the heights for the third time on December 9, 1971. This time, however, they retained the heights in line with the Shimla Agreement under which the violable Cease Fire Line (CFL), created in December 1948 on cessation of hostilities in Kashmir, was converted into an inviolable Line of Control (LoC), on the basis of actual possession of territory at the time of the ceasefire in December 1971. . When the Indians captured the heights on three different occasions, the Pakistani force that was overwhelmed, consisted mostly of lightly armed, inadequately equipped Karakoram and Gilgit Scouts, both paramilitary outfits.

what about this article :azn: :haha:

Lol let them live in their delusions

Indian army ran out of coffins for their fallen soldiers so naturally they'll forever be haunted by Kargil
Because we used them to bury dead pakistani soldiers discarded when defeated PA fled back...

The Army is above such inquires in Pakistan. Kargil is only one such episode.. it took twenty years for the report on 71 to come out. Even officers that wish to cooperate and improve their processes are put aside by people like Musharraf. Essentially there is massive intellectual and moral corruption towards the top in the Pakistan Army and sadly it is systemic.. so even if there are good officers that make it to the top, they find this lack of initiative and lax attitude along with self preservation ingrained in the "aura" of the GHQ.

@kez

Kargil was waiting to happen

SInce that stretch of LOC was not occupied in the winter ; it is quite logical
that PA would try to occupy it ; some day

Kargil 's importance lies in the Road to Siachen ; that was the AIM of PA
