Inspector Shafiq Tanoli among four dead in blast

Seven murder attempts had been made on Shafiq Tanoli in the past.


KARACHI (Dunya News) - At least four people inlcuding former inspector Shafiq Tanoli were killed while fifteen others injured in a suicide blast near old vegetable market in Karachi.

According to details, the suicide bomber blew himself up while Tanoli was sitting with his friends in a shop near his home.

The dead and the injured were immediately rushed to the hospital.

The windows of the nearby building and shops were partially destroyed in the blast.

The head of the suicide bomber has also been found near the blast site. The bomber was about 30-35 years old, one of the officials added.

Former SHO Tanoli was suspended this month following an inquiry against his raid at a house in sea view.

Seven murder attempts had been made on Shafiq Tanoli in the past. He was on the hit list of banned outfits.

Talking to media, the brother of Shafiq Tanoli said he will register case against the high police officials, lamenting that his brother wasn t provided adequate security despite life threats.

Condemnations and condolences started pouring in following the blast. Sindh governor Dr Ishartul Ebad condemned the attack on inspector.

Tanoli had also worked for the CID, and was involved in the arrest of Lyari’s Arshad Pappu. He had been attacked twice in Pak Colony, twice in Mauripur, once each in Liaquatabad, Sachal and Old Sabzi Mandi.
