Small Step for Circular Railways Giant Leap for Karachi

Tufan Ane se Pehla , Halki Hawa Chalti hai !!!

Its tragic to hear the rhetoric normally associated with far flung remote areas than the major metropolis of the country inhabiting 220 million.

The tiddi dal politics is dead. Only mass agitations are left in Pakistan

It seems the track is fine, completely normal that train is running slowly to test drive on a track

a) The surroundings need major cleanup drive
b) The track needs to be fenced from both side to prevent people jumping over track infront of the Train

Track needs to be cleanup and maintained , need labourors to gather the garbage and haul it into a Truck for disposal
Track should look professional

Karachi is the financial capital of Pakistan and its people deserve modern urban transit. The orange line in Lahore will remove a major bottleneck in the city and improve the quality of life. There’s a direct link between a robust urban transit system and economic growth.

Pakistanis need to look at such projects not simply in monetary terms but the multiplier impact they have. This is why Pakistan’s space program has stayed dormant for decades, even though Pakistan was one of the first countries in Asia to join the space race.

Planners saw the space program as a luxury item. One of the long running arguments on this forum is that Pakistan doesn’t need to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in space projects simply to put one or two satellites in space; without understanding that a robust space program advances a culture of science and technology and benefits the entire economic ecosystem. Again, there are many studies on the connection between space program and economic impact it has.

Pakistan has missed the train number of times due to such fatalistic reasonings.

You have posted an image of an Amtrak train and New York subway train. Both of these are decades ahead of anything in Pakistan. You must have not been inside of either, hence your simplistic and laughable rebuttal. Drink some water and get some fresh air.
Brother first shouldn't we have more industry and exports I think tech and defence industries are best for Pakistan. We can make billions the way Israel is doing now. Their human resource is carefully developed and properly utilised by their military and it's partnerships with universities. Just look at Unit 8200 and how it has helped Israel set up it's own Silicone Valley(s).

We should implement a program of military service where we can educate and train people to develop our human resource. Ashir Azeem has discussed this idea in detail on his youtube channel.

No disagreements there. But it starts with a good urban transportation policy. If people in Karachi are taking 45-minutes to hours getting from point A to point B, which is Pakistan’s financial hub, then that translates to potentially billions in lost economic activity annually. This has to be resolved and it’s one of the enduring bottlenecks that plague Pakistan’s economic growth. A modern, efficient and sustainable urban transportation system will unleash economic dividends and pay for itself in the long run.

That's true cities are becoming more and more congested. If we had good public transit systems or carpooling. We probably won't have congestion. It's also partly due to Pakistani cities expanding horizontally and not vertically like most cities and people preferring gated communities like Bahria Town or some other fancy town. This causes loss of farmland and more and more people to buy cars and bikes.
At least putting a military style fence will keep the dungar paindoos from littering and walking on the tracks like cows.

Olaaika'al an'am bal hum adal ussabila.
As the quran says. Couldn't find arabic.

Looks like something from the 1920s.

sir, the establishment has been trying to fail the city since decades now, Lahore which is smaller than karachi and makes only half of the GDP compared to karachi already had mass transit since ages and now they have a modern rail transport, even smaller cites like multan, bhawalpur, peshawar etc have modern public transportation, whie in the same period karachi has nothing.

The contract has been given to FWO, a business wing of the army, which will make millions using the present infrastructure and pocket huge sums without modernization. The modenization will take huge cost and will need to be kept funded/subsidized by fed govt and sindh govt, both of them unwilling to do.

Since 10-15 years not one development project has been initiated/completed in the city and its water lifeline K-4 was diverted to private housing schemes run by these very same business wings (defense and behria)

considering a major portion of this circular rail is completely obliterated, it would be next to impossible even for reviving this colonial era circular rail.

KCR was being given to china as part of CPEC but even that was scraped after they scraped Japanese help through JICA, so now this will most probably be the fate of the city.

these are the sole means of ''public transportation'' of the city
