A local leader of Jubo League, the youth associate body of Awami League, was gunned down by assailants in the city’s Gulshan area early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Riaz Uddin, organising secretary of Dhaka city south unit of Jubo League.

Police said two unidentified gunmen riding on a motorcycle opened fire on Riaz in front of Shoppers’ World at Gulshan Avenue-1 around 1am while he was standing before his vehicle, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to Shahabuddin Medical College and Hospital, located nearby, where doctors declared him dead.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

@ Here in our country " Paijama Punjabi" means " Shalwar(pajama) Kameze ", no relation with the "Punjabi" people of Pakistan.

@ Generally the religious people wear " Paijama Panjabi". So, may be AL is trying that the AL leader was killed by the religious people may be by the " Hefazat-e-Islami."

Does anyone remember the BAL atrocities during the 96-2001 era? I remember when I was a kid and incidents like this were a daily occurrence. It's sad how this incidences was given a rebirth in 2008 to the haunting memories back in the days. I remember back in 1996-2001, local shops and restaurants would close even before there would be a gathering of Al chatra league leaders and the constant fear people who would have live in. When the shopping mall gates closes in this video at the end, it gives me flashback from those days. Anyways, its a tragedy to see that those days are back and the common public have to relive those moments again. Not even the AL leaders themselves are safe in the hands of their own public.

Milki's 'killer' Tarek killed in ‘crossfire’

Zahid Siddique Tarek, the alleged killer of Juba League leader Reazul Haque Milki has been killed in a `crossfire`.



Rapid Action Battalion’s intelligent wing Director Lt Col Ziaul Ahsan has confirmed bdnews24.com about the incident.

The RAB official said unknown miscreants opened fire at them at around 10pm Wednesday near Khilkhet area when they were taking Tarek to Gulshan Police from Uttara.

In retaliation, RAB also fired back, he added.

He said, during the ‘gun-fight’, two people including Tarek were killed on the spot but could not name the other.

"Two RAB officials were also injured," he said.
