RIYADH — Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II is engaged to be married to Saudi citizen Rajwa Khaled Al-Saif on Wednesday, the Royal Hashemite Court of Jordan announced. The engagement ceremony was held in the presence of Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Queen Rania and the bride-to-be’s family in Riyadh.

The ceremony was held at the bride’s father’s home in the Saudi capital city, in the presence of Prince Hassan bin Talal, Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II, Prince Ali bin Hussein, Prince Hashem bin Hussein, Prince Ghazi bin Mohammed, Prince Rashid bin Hassan, and a number of members of the Al-Saif family.

Queen Rania also took to Twitter to share her happiness. “I didn’t think it was possible to hold so much joy in my heart! Congratulations to my eldest Prince Hussein and his beautiful bride-to-be, Rajwa,” Queen Rania wrote.

On Instagram, the queen shared more photographs showing the royal couple embracing their future daughter-in-law with wide smiles.
Rajwa Al-Saif was born in Riyadh on April 28, 1994, to Saudi businessman Khalid bin Musaed Al-Saif and Azza bint Naif Al-Sudairi. She is the youngest sister of Faisal, Naif and Dana.

Rajwa received her secondary education in Saudi Arabia, and her higher education at the School of Architecture at Syracuse University in New York.

Prince Hussein, 28, is a graduate of the British military academy Sandhurst. He is also holder of a degree in international history from Georgetown University in the US.

He holds the rank of captain in the Jordanian armed forces and can fly a military helicopter. Prince Hussein was officially named crown prince in 2009 by a royal decree.

The Jordanian Hashemite Royal Family is originally from KSA (Hijaz).

Jordan should have been a part of Hijaz anyway, over half of it is historical Hijaz/Nabatea already.

Madi said, "They [Jordanians] are really happy to see the prince engaged to an Arab-Muslim girl, a girl with tribal roots from Arabia. Absolutely, it will send a good message to Jordanians."

The origin of the family of Prince Hussein's fiancee goes back to the Subai tribe, who have been sheikhs of the town of Al-Attar in Sudair, Najd, a historical region in central Saudi Arabia, since the reign of Saudi Arabia's first king, King Abdulaziz Al Saud, Jordanian local media reported.

The Sudair area was also the home to Hussa Al Sudairi, one of the wives of King Abdulaziz, and mother to the "Sudairi Seven" – a powerful alliance of seven sons of Abdulaziz, including former King Fahd and current monarch Salman.

Jordanians and Saudis share many common values and traditions "in almost everything", Shneiket noted, pointing specifically to both kingdoms' "conservative societies", which he said is reflected in how the bride-to-be dresses.

"Jordanian people, they are so happy to see her modesty; they are really happy to see that this upcoming queen is similar to them," Madi added. "The recent engagement was so good for the prince and for the royal family."

Personal opinion: I think that the royal family of Jordan is cautious and afraid of KSA and MbS. They know that Jordan is a artificial country that was created by the Brits as a compensation for the Hashemites who they betrayed and who were ousted from power in Hijaz by the Saud dynasty. Modern-day Jordan is historically a part of Hijaz and historical Arabia. The local Jordanians are of the same stock as people from Hijaz. KSA and Jordan are naturally the most close allies but I think that Jordan has little prospect of becoming a truly independent and economically prosperous country. It would be wisest for them to join hands with KSA and I am sure that this will eventually happen once again.

Just remember Nabatea, one of the greatest civilizations in history, over 2000 + years ago.
