Jordan Air Force Buys Nine Pilatus Trainers

GENEVA — The Jordanian air force will buy nine Pilatus training aircraft for fighter jet pilots, the Swiss company said Monday, without divulging the price tag on the deal.

The deal for the nine PC-9 M two-seater planes also includes a simulator, training equipment and logistics support, Pilatus Aircraft said in a statement.

The Swiss company said it had landed the deal amid strong international competition "after several years of hard negotiations, from which the PC-9 M finally emerged as the winner."

"We are truly delighted to have a new customer and are confident that this purchase will encourage other air forces to consider our efficient Pilatus training aircraft for their own pilot training needs in the future," company chief Markus Bucher said in the statement.

The company said the planes would be delivered to Jordan starting in January 2017, and would "form the future backbone for training the pilots tasked with flying the latest generation of military jets."

Pilatus has already sold 260 of its PC-9 trainer aircraft to 15 air forces worldwide, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Thailand and Australia, it said.

In 2012, the company sold 75 of its less powerful PC-7 trainers to the Indian air force for a reported $1 billion.

Then they will buy the EF-2000s with GCC support like in 100s as then PAF will gain their F-16s too.

imo, embraer super tucano is much better aircraft.

In few days, Jordan is about to receive delivery of 2 more Pilatus trainers.
Where's PAC :hitwall:

Switzerland /UK companies are experts in handling Arab clientele.
Obviously both of the states don't speak Arabic, but they will make their clients feel better than home. They are good salesmen.
Unlike PAC marketing staff, going to Arab states with banners printed in English.

Joint exercises are ostensibly aimed at enhancing both countries’ ability to confront ‘terrorist threats’

Jordan and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday wrapped up joint military exercises conducted in the Jordanian capital, according to the Saudi embassy in Amman.

The joint maneuvers, which began on Sunday, were ostensibly aimed at developing both countries’ military capacities with a view to confronting "terrorist threats”.

“The Yarmouk 2 maneuvers were staged with the participation of Ghazi al-Sarhan, commander of the Northern Jordanian Military Zone, and Fahd bin Abdullah al-Mutair, commander of the Saudi army's Northern Region, along with other senior military officers,” the embassy said in a statement.

At a closing ceremony, al-Mutair said the joint exercises would “enhance our military forces and raise the capabilities of our officers, especially given that Jordan participates in Operation Decisive Storm” -- a reference to the ongoing Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen.

The four-day exercises were organized jointly by the Saudi Armed Forces’ 12th Khalid bin al-Waleed Brigade and the Jordanian Armed Forces’ Princess Alia Brigade.
