NoA bit childish don't you think?
John mcCain is a war hero because he acted in a dignified manner under the most hellish conditions.
All the other nonsense that people wrote here are disrespectful and has nothing to do with the fact above.
As for criticizing the vietnam war , which is legitimate . I just want to remind people that it was a very different world at the height of the cold war , when people in the US actually feared that one by one countries are going to fall under the clutches of communism.
As for John mcCain , not only did he manage to survive his ordeal , he was able to rebuild his life in an admirable way.
This was his last act was voting for against abolishing health care for americans. mcCain , already sick with cancers , drags himself from his sick bed ,to senate for a vote that tipped the scale. Brave ...
Why did no one here find it proper mention that fact ?
Speaking as someone who had to live under Obamacare, it really sucked if you were a working class American. It did not work as advertised. Speaking from my experience:
1. The average annual deductible was close to $6,000 per person before you could avail of any benefits ( I would have to get hit by a freight train every single year to meet that criteria)
2. The premiums for mandatory Obamacare average $900 / month - not many people can afford this
3. Lower income people ( like my kids who are just now entering the workforce) simply cannot afford these premiums - have to pay a fine / penalty ( simply robbing the poor - for being poor)
4. Everyone had to pay for mental health treatment, drug rehab, pregnancy ( I won't get pregnant - I promise!) whether they needed it or not.
McCain himself had health insurance through Congress. By voting against abolishing Obamacare, he did a huge dis-service to the average American. So no it was an asshole move on his part.
Watch what Bill Clinton himself had to say about Obamacare:
yes, and it blows me away the he did not want his own running mate Sarah Palin to his funeral. Taking politics to your grave is pretty morbidThanks for the input.
I know little on the details of the health care , just saying that i appreciate him making the effort to vote when he was already very sick with cancer. Does not mean ofcourse that all must agree with his view.
Another incident where I remember he acted with decency was in during his campaign against obama :
Now some may not think much of it but in today politics i think we can say that some politicians would try to ride this hate slander ... he did not .
