My bad were you getting all these goods for daily usage free of charge before these mills were sold to private investors? cause if you were then you be one of the lucky one cant remember a day when i walked to the store and came home with atta rice and dall for free.

The free loaders want the govt to subsidize their usage, and the govt types, bureaucrats and politicos, they like that - because it gives them power, the consumer gets horrible service and the free loaders, well, they live off stealing -- Our concern should be to allow government to do what it does best and NOT do what it does not do best.

A Private mill in Pakistan makes profits, the govt run mill makes losses - PIA was the seed for Emirates, Gulf, Malayisan, and Singapore, they all make money , PIA makes losses - Chinese have offered that Pak Railways should make money, the proposal is not even discussed because we are used to failure and making losses.

So, what if privatization does go forward, what can we expect? Expect criminals, that is to say Unions, Islamists and politics to come forward to collect their piece --

wat has islamists got to do with this? infact it was only the islamists who stood up against the socialist policies of bhutto which then resulted in the reversal of bhutto's nationalization policies.

This organizations should have been off the govt's books long time ago, the only reason they kept on is so taht PPP could have something to get their jiyalas into. Infact i believe that we should sell the railways too, private entities might make better use of it.

Railways and public transport are essential services and should remain with the concerned governments, imo. Instead of focusing on steel mills, the federal govt. should improve the rail system and cities should take over bus transport from private operators. This keeps these services free from reckless profiteering, strikes and closures and generates revenue for the administration.

Or perhaps a public-private partnership like in PTCL. Keeps control in government hands while uses private management efficiency.

Your point about hiring is completely valid. Thousands were inducted into steel mills at the taxpayer's expense.

when are we privatizing police then ?

we dont want to give money to private monopoly businessmen also by giving them coropration or any sector.they will skin people alive and hell they even don't keep

their money in Pakistan as soon as Pakistan is in some sort of financial trouble as the case for years now they are put of here

like after 2008 elections billions were transferred to Dubai etc etc but they drowned their money there

first sort out rpps monopoly,flour,sugar,poultry mafia or malik riaz land grabbed housing schemes and then think of privatization

supreme court ordered several times on sugar mafia but government says yes sir and then don't do a damn thing

Privatize means, give the ownership to local community... and it is already going on in parallel, defence housing has its own security and so does other societies.
People pay to private contractors to build roads, sewage, electricity and telephone.... govt. is only good to collect property tax, commercialization fees. etc. etc.
We need to stop taxing people and let them build their own security.... comprising of retired soldiers.
