What's new

JF-17's various initial design phases & design resemblances

is it only me or f/a 18 and Jf-17 are a little look alikes
JFT looks like a single engine version of f/a 18
just a funny observation

You remove "super" from the "f-18 super hornet" and all you get is a JF-17.:D

And still a job well done.

Out of curiosity did Pakistan ever test JF-17 with any US engine?

that is what i've always argued
if we want to bring it to the parity of f-16 why not use the similar engine
or anyone else
perheps @MastanKhan and @django can shed a light on it

US engine will have many strings attached e.g Sanctions, perhaps cost as well, they may not be willing to share some technical know-how etc etc........ but i was only curious if any JF-17 ever flew with a US engine?

Yes, there are similarities but there are a lot of differences too. Look at the start of LERX on F-18 and also the location of the intake relative to the wing while LERX on JF-17 start with intake and that affects the intake efficiency and JF-17 has more efficient intake but LERX on F-18 also for higher angles of attack before the onset of stall and that has affect on manoeuvrability. One major difference is the twin vertical tails and twin engines on F-18 so it is a bigger and a heavy fighter.

:thank_you2:

hey
No, they did not copy JF-17 because F/A-18 is an older A/C than JF-17
However F-15 has a lot of copied features and technologies from Mig-25
