It looks like a high quality well finished western fighter jet. I am amazed. Very glad if it's the real pic.

One aspect of the JF-17 that I had not looked into and came into my focus today is the life of the airframe and according to PAC Kamra it is 4,000 hrs

Desired fatigue life of the airframe is 4,000 flight hours or 25 years
Period to first overhaul would be 1,200 flight hours

4000 hrs in 25 years say the plane is expected to fly 3 hrs per week on average.

I am still trying to clarify but seems the Gripen is at 8,000. Not sure if this is the Gripen C or the Gripen NG.

Modern tactical aircraft are designed with airframe lives between 3,000 and 6,000 hours though exceptions either way do exist. Bent or out-of-life components can be replaced but it is usually an expensive affair and is thus to be avoided where possible.

just like other aircrafts, its fatigue life can be improved, and it will be later on whenever the need arises....

Thanks. I understand that they airframe can be rebuild to extend the life. I am looking at the original life as a measure of the design and build quality!

Current construction techniques are aimed at cost saving..
Which means no advanced honeycomb sandwiches at non-critical areas..
Use of composites has been kept low....and semi-traditional approaches have been taken.. to reduce build time and costs.
No loss in part of jet capabilities.. just that the airframe fatigue piles on faster than other jets..
Such as plain thin sheets on the LERX and Horizontal Tail).
But for the costs of material's , equipment, manpower.. (not the industrial investment). .. its a bargain at close to 15mil a pop.
The FC-20 on the other hand.. is being used as the testbed for advanced materials.. and other ..I dare say.. {x|x &N 4.5<x<5} .
