Not many of you will be aware of the fact that. JF-17 Thunder has now taken over from the F-16s, air defense and superiority duties in certain sectors thus constantly flies armed caps in those areas. Apart from the air superiority role, the JF-17 is now regularly seen armed for other tasks, such as precision strikes with REK guided weapons and armed with AShM for the Maritime strike role. In the latter it can carry a pair of C-802 Missiles compared to the earlier Mirage which could only carry a single Exocet on it's centre line stations.
Furthermore, the JF-17 has been cleared to carry and fire the CM-400AKG Carrier Killer Missiles. Thus in just over a decade, the JF-17 has proved it'self to be a true Multi Mission Aircraft.

Once only the F-16 could boast this capability, but after Wing Strengthening, the JF-17 is now also capable of carrying a MK-84s Under Each Wing.

Is there an analogue for the Triple Ejector Rack available for the JF-17 like those on the F-16 and are the wings designed for it?

The JF17s outreach and outgun anything that IAF has currently, not even the Su30MKI can take on the JF17 jn BVR. It makes sense that JF17s are used in operational CAPs as it can go head on anything they have over there.. Air-to-air missiles have a limited lifespan, ie number of takeoff, landings and flying hours they can withstand before their operational life is over. No point buring through AMRAAM flying hours.

SD10s are a lot lot more easy to replace than AMRAAMs which the Americans may not sell again to PAF. So, the AMRAAM stock is limited and non replaceable. Best to preserve them for when things get very hot imho.

PS, its a shame that PAF has not deployed dual rack SD10 launchers for the JF17. I would like to know the reason why. I hope next time Windjammer meets an important PAF highup he doesn't forget to ask why... If anyone is on good terms with Alan Warnes, maybe they can ask him?

Is this an example of short sighted thinking by the PAF, in the same way they were short sighted over the need for the JF17B.

I do hope they turn up with Block III !!!!
