Only a flypast was conducted for the visitor...and no smoke was used.

What is the significance of this?

In aerial displays since there is only the plain blue sky in background you don't truly get the visual impact of the aircraft's maneuverability until you have a reference. The trails of the smoke create that reference, which is why aircrafts seem to look more maneuverable when they are emitting smoke.

Smoke has been used to heighten the visual impact of flight for decades. Usually smoke systems simply pump enough oil into a hot engine exhaust, reciprocating or jet, to produce a visible plume of smoke.

With jet exhaust systems, smoke quality is generally poor due to dispersion from the high velocity exhaust. The smoke also dissipates rapidly because of high exhaust temperature. At high power settings, especially in after burner, the smoke may disappear altogether.

Even that would have been acceptable... they just over expose everything... i am not sure how hard it is for them to get the right metering according to the light... Even a guy with iphone
do a better job than PTV cameramen

My guess is smoke winders are for either official ceremony of new unit or testing for Pakistan Day.
