the quota system was to provide upliftment for backward castes, but influential and powerful castes are trying to include themselves in 'backward' category... that defeats the whole purpose of affirmative action.
if patels and jats are backward then why just leave out brahmins.. add them too... everybody is backward in India..

Actually the quota system based upon the caste is not fair in first place. There should be equality no matter of which caste employs. I oppose the idea of such system based upon caste which will eventually create such messes as you stated, the few with influence will try to cater as much as they can even by wrong presentation or declaration of class.

I too like equality(as in equal opportunity) but in some cases equality does not bring fairness. This is one of those cases. I encourage you to read more on the subject, as its counterintutive to most of us, why some people get preferential treatment, it seems blatantly unfair.

We were always pointed negatively in the whole history but in crises we have always proved worth of our blood.

The Indian authorities should clamp down hard on such protests, because otherwise its the opening of the floodgates no? Every caste/group will realize the way to get the centre to listen is to create havoc and destruction. Better not to let that precedent be set.

Don't believe everything which national media shows us. Most of them are just pure lies nothing else.
All this damage happened not because of the protest but because of the Jats vs non-Jats riots. Till 18 feb nobody outside Haryana even knew that the a protest is doing on but attacks on protesters turned this whole protests into riots.
Out of 69 peoples arrested in Rohtak (Most affected area) only 12 are Jats.
Read the names and titles carefully in these articles published by newspapers.

To be more accurate, majority Jats are Hindu. There are muslim and Sikh Jats as well. Some of them might have forgotten their castes however.

These people sit in their home and spew venom against us and then call us intolerant. Factorized a riot then curse us again. I just ignore those elite attitude people and do my daily chores. We are proud people and they are nuisance.

During the time of Quota's decision of caste based politics, in 1950s, it seems my political caste was against clubbing of my caste people with SC's as they were considered lower then and demanded for inclusion in OBC's

I agree with @hinduguy

Almost all Jatts (which includes some of my very close friends) I have interacted with are 'human' in normal laboratory conditions - but Crank up a degree or two - and they start becoming monsters and absolute sh*theads. I have had very frank discussion with them about this behavior and they acknowledge it. The point they make usually is that - people interacting with them should already take this into account and act accordingly - which of course is a ridiculous expectation to have.

The behavior stems from the way in which they are brought up - the teachings at home are apparently not to bow to anyone and be strong enough to act aggressively when wronged - threshold for being wronged apparently being very low.
