A report from a Japanese TV station that suspected some of the 14,000 Americans died of influenza may have unknowningly contracted the coronavirus has gone viral on Chinese social media, stoking fears and speculations in China that the novel coronavirus may have originated in the US.

The report, by TV Asahi Corporation of Japan, suggested that the US government may have failed to grasp how rampant the virus have gone on the US soil.

On February 14, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said they will begin to test individuals with influenza-like-illness for the novel coronavirus at public health labs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, and New York City.

However, it is unknown whether Americans who have already died of the influenza had contracted the coronavirus, as reported by TV Asahi.

The story sparked various conspiracy theories on Chinese cyberspace.

The Military World Games were held in Wuhan in October. "Perhaps the US delegates brought the coronavirus to Wuhan, and some mutation occurred to the virus, making it more deadly and contagious, and causing a widespread outbreak this year," a user posted on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo.

Shen Yi, an international relations professor at the Shanghai-based Fudan University, noted that global virologists are working to track the origin of the virus, including the intelligence agencies. Netizens are encouraged to actively partake in discussions, but preferrably in a rational fashion.

"The symptoms and the contagiosity of the COVID-19 are evident to all. It is impossible to conceal the origins of the disease," Shen said, urging the public to rely more on facts.

The epidemic is a major test for many systems and media should report in a clear and accurate manner. Asahi's report is actually using ambiguous Japanese expressions to lead readers to think that the COVID-19 is more serious than it appeared to be in the US, he added.

US officials have so far confirmed 35 cases of the novel coronavirus in the country.

Media reported the US CDC has been working with the healthcare sector to heighten preparedness before the virus "take(s) a foothold in the US."

Reuters quoted US health officials on Friday as saying, they are preparing for the possibility of the spread of the new coronavirus through US communities that would force closures of schools and businesses.

The US is concerned that a larger spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus could overwhelm emergency rooms, and cause supply shortages of some crucial medical supplies, during an already busy time dealing with seasonal flu that has resulted in the illness of between 9 to 45 million annually, since 2010.

Yeah yeah yeah this is groundless:

Zoonoses in South-East Asia: a regional burden, a global threat

But People's Daily, The official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Pulling "COVID-19 is US bio-weapon" out of their a$$ has ground.

Eating exotic food indeed pose greater health risk. But doesnt mean corona virus is proven/certainly coming from bat, it is just a speculation that still require evidence.

As I said many people in SEA also eat exotic food (your article also said so) and so far never get corona or something similar with it.

The problem isn't exotic animals, its eating wild animals. If these animals are bred in a factory and are checked for diseases and etc. also kept in proper containment there would be no problems

Quite interesting!

Does someone have the video of it?

Including English subtitle.

Pneumonia is quite common in the USA, especially when influenza hits annually. Timing is interesting though but could be just a coincidence. (2020 is a nice round number to pick) Also, it says bacteria, not virus, so other than the 2020 pneumonia part, it got other stuff wrong. Also, the original book didn't have Wuhan in it but actually a city in Russia, editors changed it to Wuhan.

You Iranians were supposed to missile strike Israhell and get nuked. That was the plan, I was warning Iranians in early January any attack on Israhell would be replied with a nuke strike by Netanyahu on Tehran and other places in Iran. I felt this was true.

After a nuclear exchange between Iran and West (Israhell), "China catches a cold". This scenario was leaked in 2005, and make a video in 2010. The virus was spread before the assassination of the Iranian general. And was supposed to be widespread in China to punish the Chinese for helping the Iranians. China is suffering now because they helped Iran get nuclear and missile technology. They globalists would be doing mass assassination and wars if they responded to every threat, only when threats materialize do they strike. The West wanted a conflict with Iran, as was shown in the assassination of the general, but Chinese technology was getting in the way. Putin needs approval for sale of S-400 from Netanyahu. Putin is part of the masonic jewish system, and takes orders from them. China is not and does not take many orders from them. They are free in China. And felt free to help Iran. That is what got China in trouble.

How could an author of a book know that Wuhan would be the epicenter of a pandemic? The author didn't, the jewish/masonic editors changed it to Wuhan. Advertising, publishing, media, hollywood is jewish/masonic run. This was predictive programming. They did this with 9/11 too.

There are two goals for this pandemic. Hopefully they don't pan out.

First goal is to ruin the Chinese economy, and gut China of every export business they have to end the China economy for helping Iran.

Second goal is to get the masses to approve rounding up people who supposedly have the virus and don't really have it, any Iranian-Americans in Los Angeles who doesn't like Washington is gonna be rounded up and whisked away to permanent quarantine over this virus.

That is why the virus in the West is more deadly to Chinese interest than the virus in China. Pro-China/pro-Iran supporters in the West could be tested with false-positive test results to send them to camps to die (of a supposed virus infection, which they don't have).

Make moronic zombies afraid of a virus and feel they have no means to stay "uninfected" and they would support the gunning down of supposedly infected people by fake 'authorities'.

Yep, in the book it tells of Chinese scientist defecting to the West warning that China had created "Wuhan-400" as a biological weapon to use on the world. Books can be prophetic.

https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/arts...han-400-makes-people-terribly-ill-dean-koontz

A virus called Wuhan-400 causes outbreak … in a Dean Koontz thriller from 1981. How is it that some books appear to prophesy events?

The Eyes of Darkness, a 1981 thriller by bestselling suspense author Dean Koontz, tells of a Chinese military lab that creates a virus as part of its biological weapons programme. The lab is located in Wuhan, which lends the virus its name, Wuhan-400. A chilling literary coincidence or a case of writer as unwitting prophet?

In The Eyes of Darkness, a grieving mother, Christina Evans, sets out to discover whether her son Danny died on a camping trip or if – as suspicious messages suggest – he is still alive. She eventually tracks him down to a military facility where he is being held after being accidentally contaminated with man-made microorganisms created at the research centre in Wuhan.

If that made the hair on the back of your neck stand up, read this passage from the book: “It was around that time that a Chinese scientist named Li Chen moved to the United States while carrying a floppy disk of data from China’s most important and dangerous new biological weapon of the past decade. They call it Wuhan-400 because it was developed in their RDNA laboratory just outside the city of Wuhan.”

In another strange coincidence, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which houses China’s only level four biosafety laboratory, the highest-level classification of labs that study the deadliest viruses, is just 32km from the epicentre of the current coronavirus outbreak. The opening of the maximum-security lab was covered in a 2017 story in the journal Nature, which warned of safety risks in a culture where hierarchy trumps an open culture.

In Koontz’s thriller, the virus is considered the “perfect weapon” because it only affects humans and, since it cannot survive outside the human body for longer than a minute, it does not demand expensive decontamination once a population is wiped out, allowing the victors to roll in and claim a conquered territory.

Another stupid theory. If COVID-19 had originated in the US, given its R0 of at least 2.3 but probably somewhere between 3 and 3.5, and it has been active and unchecked since at least mid November, there would now be tens of millions of active cases of sick Americans with serious flu/pneumonia like symptoms.
