Japanese entrepreneurs keen to invest in Bangladesh: Abe

I meant transport infrastructure, the Japanese controlled ADB did not allocate any money for the Padma bridge, you expect them to invest?

I think corruption for that project was out of control, so like World Bank, Japan also had no choice to drop this hot potato.

Below is a citation that I have posted in another thread. I think the post is more suitable in this thread.

"Japan has an old culture and tradition. Usually, they do not like to trade with foreigners although they will trade with their country. So, how it is done? Usually, Japanese Sogo Sosha (conglomerate, multinational trading houses} companies do the job. They would establish offices in a foreign country, but will shun the local companies and would prefer to buy goods from manufacturing companies owned by other Japanese in that country and would export these to Japan.

This is how the Japanese maintain quality and timely delivery. Japanese trust only themselves. The word "Wa" has a deep meaning in the Japanese society. It means harmony, which they find the foreigners neither understand nor appreciate. This is why they would prefer to work among themselves.

The above explanation says that even in a two way trade, almost only the Japanese companies would manufacture, export as well as import. They will only use the local cheap labor. So, unless and until this basic business structure is developed by the Japanese companies in BD, trade between the two countries may not flourish the way the two govts want it to be".

Does Wa come from Yamato Wa?
Wa (Japan) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have seen Korean drama where they mention Wa Nara (country) during the time of Tang-Silla alliance, which was allied with Baekje.

What you describe makes perfect sense and I have noticed the same thing to an extent among Koreans. Most of the Korean imported manufactured products from other Asian countries are usually from Korean owned factories, Koreans trust other Koreans. The other thing I noticed is that Koreans in many instances try to follow tried and true Japanese way.

I would say Matarbari coal power plant would be a step in that direction to setup basic structures. I am confident that Japan will eventually come in a big way in Bangladesh, as India will turn out to be like the 2nd China, for Japan. Indian large MNC's are much more powerful than those of Bangladesh and they will go for indigenous technology development by acquiring as much Intellectual Property as possible from Japan and the West, just like the Chinese have done. And then, just like the Chinese, they will proceed to marginalize Japanese and Western investors. ASEAN+Bangladesh are safer bets for Japan in that regard, in the long term, because business houses in these countries are smaller and it will take decades longer for local business houses in these countries to compete with Japanese, Korean or Western conglomerates, MNCs, Chaebols/Zaibatsu's etc.

Greetings @kalu_miah ,

Permit me to say that I have long admired and cherished your critical thinking as displayed in your numerous dialectics here in PDF, as well as your research in various topics that are pleoitrophic in manifest. I want to know if you would be interested in collaborating with me in an article publishing here in PDF. I notice that we have interests in similar fields be they in political machinations in the Asia-Pacific, as well as Inter-Cultural Qualitative Analysis.

I would be honored to work with you in the future.

----------until the 8th century, when the Japanese replaced it with "harmony, peace, balance."
This is the Kanji or Chinese character which means harmony. Koreans may have adopted a few of time old Japanese value systems in their business society. But, Japanese concept of Wa is spread throughout its entire society. They do not usually go after friction or conflict with others living in their society. Rather, they prefer to or pretend to accept others' opinion.

Anyway, I am not a linguist or a sociologist and have only a superficial knowledge about the subject. However, I believe Japanese will do business in BD once they find other counterparts from their own society participate similarly because Japanese do not like to become a lonely wolf or a pioneer in case of businesses.

I believe if Japan govt takes initiative to 1) build the Matarbari (I wish this to be renamed as MATABARI, which sounds like a Japanese word) power station, 2) constructs the metrorail system, 3) a Japanese carrier like JAL or JAS starts service, the conglomerates will be encouraged to come and invest here. Once these big name companies come to our shore, only then a good number of other medium and small companies will follow them to invest here. This is what I think.
