Japan warms to China’s belt and road plan with talks on business tie-ups, sources say

EU is not China's neighbor but we do have land connectivity via Russia or other countries, unlike India which Pakistan is not allow you access to their land. Sure Japan can use Russia route if they export directly from Japan but there is a lot of Japanese manufacturing company in China such as Toshiba, Sony, are they going to ship back their made in China product to Japan then ship to Russia before hit the road to EU?

there is a reason the world shifted to maritime trade
you will find out soon

Indians are so scare that Japan will join OBOR because India shall be completely isolate with their wet dream of Africa corridor especially CPEC already make India cried none stop. Japanese can see us how they want, we certainly wont give the rat a$$ and we certainly not begging them to consider us as their GOD dominant species...we will let them the freedom for their fantasy.

Regardless if you endorse that view or not, Japan knew they can't compete against China on any mega project because we have money, expertise, experience and manpower to push Japanese to be extreme competitive in order to obtain the contract during the bid.

As for India, you guys are just hopeless because you have nothing to compete against China nor Japan over infrastructure projects and the best you can do is to wish that such cooperation between China and Japan not happened...only time will tell if China-Japan cooperation occur, worst case China has nothing to lose but at best case India is the only loser over China-Japan cooperation on OBOR.

Look here mate. All I said was what I heard while talking to couple of Japanese. I know very well India cannot reach the manufacturing might not the money influence that China has. I am not a blind nationalist. Infact I for one advocate that India mimics many policies that China has which might be considered humAn right violation but is desperately needed to control the animals in human skin in my country.

Maritime trade still important but Land trade is become increasingly important especially in Asia continent and for those nations that can't access to the sea such as Central Asia nations and eastern European nations, rail transport is the only option despite that the cost is slidely higher than maritime trade but it is faster and will not subjected to Naval power blockade.

And I share my view regarding China, Japan and India over the OBOR issue, I have no mean to offend anyone , of course I can also be wrong too but base on the current situation especially with Trump foreign policy, Japan is trying to find an alternative instead of too over dependent of US, If that happen most likely India will left along over OBOR instead of taking advantage of it as India did with AIIB.

you fret about a naval blockade. what prevents a land power blockade ?

all East European countries have connectivity to coastal European states. All of them have joined the EU

We fret of nothing, I just point the fact that has happened in the history, sure during the war and conflict we all expect the naval and/or land blockade as well but when you have route passing over friendly nation such as Pakistan, the blockade is less likely to be happen.

No nation wants to be over dependent of other, Eastern European nations are not exception, they want alternative route to prevent Western Europe blackmail. Take Nepal as example, after so many years of depending India for their trade route and then India decided block it and forced Nepal to look to China as alternative.

Why would India join CPEC and OBOR with current set of relationships ??

The East European countries have joined the EU. The game is over.

India to join CPEC and OBOR on it own choice, no one will tell India what to do. Only when India realize that they have interests to take part OBOR maybe then they will join. China-Japan relationship is worst than Chin-India relation but Japanese are pragmatic, they see the great benefit of being part of OBOR not only for the business opportunity such obtaining infrastructure project but also use these roads to export their products.

TOKYO - Education ministers of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (ROK) exchanged views on further enhancing cooperation in education areas at the second China-Japan-ROK Education Ministers' Meeting held here on Wednesday.

Chinese Minister of Education Chen Baosheng and his Japanese counterpart Yoshimasa Hayashi, and South Korean Education Minister Kim Sang-gon who is also deputy prime minister, attended the meeting.

The ministers pointed out at the meeting that China, Japan and the ROK, as major Asian countries, are facing common opportunities and challenges.

Since the first meeting of the ministers held in South Korea in 2016, the three sides have made joint efforts to implement cooperation initiatives, and education cooperation has been progressing well generally, which in turn helped promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges and enhancement of trilateral relationships, the ministers have noted.

The three sides will continue to promote communication between students and young people of the three countries and further implement the CAMPUS Asia Program, and enhance cooperation under multilateral frameworks, according to the ministers.

Chen said that the education ministries of the three countries should bring into full play the unique role of education as adhesive and lubricant in the development of relationship between countries, learn from each other and work together to provide talents and intellectual support for regional economic and social development, provide positive energy for regional peace and development and make contribution to building a community of shared future for mankind.

The three ministers signed a joint communique on cooperation after the meeting.

Before the trilateral meeting, Chen also held meetings with Hayashi and Kim respectively, during which he exchanged views with his Japanese and South Korean counterparts on further promoting practical cooperation on high education, vocational education, youth communication and other areas.

He also reached agreement with the Japanese side on a five-year plan on China-Japan education communication between 2018 and 2022.

The third China-Japan-ROK Education Ministers' Meeting will be held in China in 2019.
