Japan wants more Chinese: Japan eases visa requirements for Chinese applicants

Lol, that's what i always find interesting , buddy. Because you know what, despite the maritime disputes last year and with this year's normalization, the numbers of Chinese coming to Japan to study and to find work has increased only more. Overall, Japanese are very accommodating, and Chinese residents there learn the language quickly, adapt quickly.

What's also a new phenomena , and i'm sure you know about this, is that there are more and more Chinese who are buying Japanese property to build equity. In fact, in Tokyo there is quite a growing number of Chinese (HKers and Shanghaiers) who are calling Tokyo their home.
Japan already has a giant China Town, no?
i think we have 1 million Japanese in mainland now. i've certainly run into some of them, just didn't know they were Japanese.

The Yokohama Chinatown (横浜中華街) is the largest Chinatown in Japan and in Asia. It is also one of the historic Chinatowns in Asia. Located in Yokohama City, of Kanagawa Prefecture, this Chinatown is always bustling with tourists and the local Japanese, in search of good Chinese food or souvenirs. Yokohama Chinatown has many entrances and each entrance has a beautiful Chinese themed gate. There are two beautiful Chinese temples, one dedicated to the "Goddess of Sea" and other the "Holy King Guan". Both temples are very famous among the immigrant Chinese in Japan. As with many other Chinatowns, there are many shops that sell Chinese goods, everything from groceries to porcelain made items. Hope you get a chance to visit and enjoy

I would say Japanese Visa is already among easiest visa for Chinese.
No interview, no bank deposit, not much paper work and certification..
Only hand over a few materials and get it in one week...

Japan's new visa policy for Chinese citizens will take effect next Monday, the Shanghai Morning Post reported on Wednesday.

Japan will relax requirements for three-year, multi-entry visas and the availability of five-year, multiple-entry visas for high-income groups, said a consul at the Consulate-General of Japan in Shanghai.

The economic status for Chinese people applying for three-year, multi-entry visas has been lowered from "sufficient" economic capacity to "certain" economic capacity, and five-year, multi-entry visas are open to high-income Chinese tourists.

The consulate will decide what constitutes a "high-income tourist" after considering all aspects of applicants.

The old visa policy will still apply to tourists with visas issued before January 19.

A three-year, multiple-entry visa is still free.

As for applications for five-year, multiple-entry visas, if tourists enter Japan for the first time through one of three earthquake-stricken areas - Fukushima, Iwate or Miyagi - and spend at least one night there, visas will be free.

But if they land elsewhere in Japan, they will be charged 400 yuan ($64.50).

From January to November last year, 2.22 million Chinese visited Japan, a year-on-year rise of 82.2 percent. 80 percent were visiting Japan for the first time.

agreed. Indian Visa is the toughest i ever encountered, it pales the UK ones in comparison.

I hate the online documents for India Visa.
Poor website, easy to crash, lose your information half way and need to re-fill again.
Other documents are not that bad..

China Town in Yokohama is very well organised & well kept, per Japanese custom, better than the one in San Francisco. Worth visiting.

It is , indeed, beautiful. Also, most Chinese in Yokohama Chinatown are from Guangzhou, so one thing you will notice is that they speak Cantonese ! :)

For Vietnamese, to get Japan visa, just send some portrait photos and filled in application form to the tourism agent, and DONE.

What's interesting is that the 2 largest minorities in Japan are both East Asians. The largest minority group are Chinese, with a number that already exceeds 1 million. Second are the Koreans, whose numbers are around 900,000-1million. And yes, Chinese immigrants to Japan adapt quickly into Japanese society.

Here's a video of how Chinese immigrants become integral to Japan:

Yeah, good to see that the Chinese cuisine has become the staple food in Japan.
