Japan looks forward to strong military ties with the Philippines

Sir we can build it here so on transport my government just needs to get their heads out of their you know what and build us trasnport ships and other auxilary ships. Japan can give us submarines and escort destoryers and those missile boats for the Navy and tank destroyers and armored vechilces missile technology and improve our current small arms production capabilites and other needed technology and planes and helicopters.

I did notice that the Philippine Navy was able to induct into its fleet auxiliary ships the likes of the BRP Tagbanua, a locally made and designed ship. Its an improvement and success story for the Philippines' military shipbuilding capabilities.

I think now the Philippines needs to focus on building its ASW capability as well as its mine countermeasure ability. In regards to Anti Submarine Warfare, Japan is an expert in this. We have a plethora of vessel platforms that functions as dual ASW capability and transport (medium load, heavy load).

Yes the BRP Tagbanua is actual not the first but its one of the first made in this time the last local made ship was in the Marcos period the Old Aguanilado class OPVs still in use to the the PN made it themsleves anyway as for our ASW we are going to get ASW helicopter and currently we starting with Helicopters Namely the ASW helicopter (like most projects its on the bidding process) but the strongest contender is other Agustawestland helicopter the wildcat but nothing confirm yet again still bidding and we are studying (this may take a while) to build a submarine force starting with three submarines we are currently studying (operating cost, numbers of submarines etc) maybe Japan would help us on this since part of our defense plans is G2G (Government to Government) Cooperation and purchase of military Items and technologies as i mention before.

see back to the past history of Philippine, it may happy to be a part of Japan.
Your a moron for thinking that many filipinos fought and die figthing for freedom by dealaying the Japanes here unlike your country who was just a huge cannonfodder of the war a useless country of morons who fought each other insted of fighting the Japanese and that too alliance does not count it was too late to defend china anyway and you were Independent too while my country was Commonwealth and please check your spelling its Philippines dumbF second we fought the Japanese and we an American Commonwealth with Army of Rilfemen and limited Artillery and Boat squadron and few biplanes while your country was Independent and had an full Army but could do next to nothing aganist the Japanese but to be cannon fodder talk about useless wast of Allied supplies and weapons. So dont talk about history you dont understand because its so full of stupidity you can fly a plane right through it and dont give me that horse CR@p about you making any headway on resistance your not Russia and you never be your country suck just face it and move on.

The Philippines needs heavy naval transports, period. I believe Japan can be of help because we have quite affordable variants available that may suit the needs of the Philippines and other potential customers.

The following is the Chihaya Class, functions as both a heavy transport ship, strategic sealift with Anti Submarine Warfare capabilities:

Another possibility is the Hibiki Class, which will be quite pertinent in disaster response and heavy transport:

Good to see cooperation between Japan and ASEAN countries. However, i think it will be better if Japan can gift some of their old vessels/warships to phillipines or they could at least seel them at friendship price(say 50-60% cheaper than its real costs) by loans. This will create god will for Japan in philippines and Vietnam. Since tbh, i dont think poor country like philippines can afford to buy Japanese weapons(who are even more expensive than U.S /western weapons, but arent really better than ours). So that will be the best solution for Japan, else the cooperation will stop at disaster management, and maybe some sharing of intelligence as one filipinos here said earlier.

Those ships have a very old style design, only Akizuki looks well.

"old style" ... I see that China need something look "modern style" or "alien style" to be called New style.

to me any style meet practical usage is good style.

those ships are built in 80' or early 90's, is that problem?

As the yen devalues, the cost of said military equipment should decrease. In addition, this past 3rd of September, a meeting took place between ASEAN representatives and the Japanese representative of Parliament -- discussing arms sales. We expect to increase military sales to ASEAN members. There are opportunities to give aligned partners "friendship prices" on a host of military equipment.
How long do u think Abe Economy can last?

My friends in japan start to complain the high tax already.

No problem. Do you know how much for "modern look" ?

One aspect of the modern-design warship is likely the stealthy design like Singapore's Formidable-class frigate or France's La Fayette-class frigate

400 millions for each. Pinoys wouldn't want to 1 vs 1 with their enemy with those warship.
For submarine hunting, transport multi-purpose ships as Japanese design is ok.

For missile sea platform, they should use compact design with fast velocity, hit and run, stealth is a bonus. With 400 million, you could get at least 8-10 missile boats.

Vietnam paid 30 million to get license building of 6 Molniya corvette 550 ton , each could bring 16 cruise antiship missiles with speed 40 knots. The shipyards nearly completed all 6.

1, 2 missiles could sink 10x bigger warships. That suit to asymetric warfare.

For speed, price, and ability, I would recommend this for the navies in South East Asia who are looking to develop their surface fleet --- The Abukuma Class Destroyer Escort, which can be considered a Light Frigate.

Tonnage: 2500 tonnes
Propulsion: CODOG , two shafts, 2 x kawasaki RR SM1A gas turbines
Speed: 27 knots

Armament: 8 x harpoon missiles, ASROC octuple launcher, 1x otobreda 76 mm, 1x phalanx 20 mm ciws, 2x HOS-301 triple 324 mm torpedo tubes

Well, considering that the US Navy's Millennium Challenge 2002 simulation ends up with the US Navy being "defeated" by a swarm of small boats armed with missiles and low-tech communications, a number of small but well armed vessels would suit as fine. I guess we really need more ASW capable platforms and while Japan would be a good source to look for, we should also develop our own.

Absolutely correct. The Philippines needs the following fast:

1) ASW helicopters
2) SSMs (land based and ship based)
3) 3-4 missile patrol boats and / or corvettes / light frigates

Again you people need to understand a country with poor people (which the Philippines is) and poor country we can but in limited numbers from anyone (still have to operate and maintain them) and the priority is education and health care and infrastructure development that's why we have to buy them in limited ammounts and this national defense no need to explain that its self explanatory why.

Its filipino sir anyone the plan for the PN is already in motion and its calls for a corvette and frigate combatant ships with CODOG and using same weapons and equipment systems its slow plan but its getting good results we all just have to wait for the bids and the hot transfers to be done.

Again its already in the works
