Japan looks forward to strong military ties with the Philippines

The Philippines needs heavy naval transports, period. I believe Japan can be of help because we have quite affordable variants available that may suit the needs of the Philippines and other potential customers.

The following is the Chihaya Class, functions as both a heavy transport ship, strategic sealift with Anti Submarine Warfare capabilities:

Another possibility is the Hibiki Class, which will be quite pertinent in disaster response and heavy transport:

You should research the market better before saling. Why PH needs boat to anti submarine before they can win a battle against a fleet?VN is more clever, their NAVY has no anti submarine weapons.

Hibiki class is a surveillance ship, when is the last time that it was used in disaster response?

Chihaya is a submarine rescue ship, Why they need a submarine rescue ship before they having a submarine?

Are you joking, mmm, good ones.

.
see back to the past history of Philippine, it may happy to be a part of Japan.

.

Hibiki Class is used as a heavy transport. Surveillance duties are referred to other ships.

Chihaya functions as anti-submarine warfare capability ship, functions as a heavy transport ship.

JMSDF produces multi-platforms on our ships.

Chihaya is not in the shap of anti-submarine warfare, it is used for detecting submarines and not anti submarine, that ship should be very quiet, it is not a combat ship at all.

Hibiki Class, you just build one piece for submarine rescue, no heavy transport variant at all. 6500ton is also not a class in heavy transport.

Hatsuyuki Class Destroyer

These ships are no longer ships of the line in the JMSDF Surface Fleet, they function in coastal defense , many of which are in strategic reserve. There are 12 ships of this class; 6 of which are still active for coastal water defense , and 6 in strategic reserve. The Philippines could do well in acquiring 1 of these.

Propulsion: 2x Kawasaki Rolls Royce Olympus TM3B gas turbines

Speed: 30 knots

Sensors: OYQ-5 TDPS (w/ Link-14)
OPS-14 Air search radar
OPS-18 surface search radar
OQS-4 hull sonar
OQR-1 TACTASS

Electronic warfare:
NOLR-6C ESM system
OLT-3 ECM system

Armament: 1 x otobreda 76 mm,
2 x 20 mm phalanx ciws
2 x quad harpoon ssm launchers

This looks more combat capable compared to the Hamilton-class ships despite that the said Hamilton is converted into a frigate.

I guess we can acquire this ship in the future though I am not sure if we are capable of operating destroyer type ships.

The Hamilton Class are deep water cutters and can endure long periods in the deep ocean, i think that they will serve perfectly for the Philippine Navy. The Philippine Navy needs to acquire SSMs on those ships, and ASROC launchers to give it the fighting edge.

1 ship of this class would give the Philippine Navy the edge of most of her neighbors. ha ha

The ships would likely be armed with Harpoons but for now it is a proposal as the DND is also considering putting anti-air capabilities onto the said Hamilton/Del Pilar-class ship.

@Nihonjin1051

I think the biggest factor would be the price tag if ever japan sells his wares to his ASEAN neighbors. As for the case for the philippines those assets which are newly decommissioned or are in reserve are suitable.

Remove the corrupt politicians first before cooperating with other nations. Our government is an embarrassment.

Those ships have a very old style design, only Akizuki looks well.

That is the point, the whole east south asia did not put so many money to military expenditure. PH has 1.1% of the GDP about 2.9 billion dollar. It is the willing to buy weapons. If the willing is low, there is no weapon market. If the budget is limited, to buy some cheaper weapon is the choice, though US weapons are also expansive. In this case, PH is not a customer of JP. PH needs aids, may be some old jets or boats, not buy new ones.

Another thing, the people has more money than the party in China, the private sector is stronger. No government is rich, they are all in debts. Is US government rich? It has 177419534XXXXX dollar debts. Chiese govenment is also in debts, the Japenese...oh, they are almost bankruptcy, indeed they have been.

PH is under US protection for more than 100 years. Indeed there is no needs for PHs to put so many money in militray sector. The world is not 100 years ago, Victoria era was long gone, occupy a country and rob money is not the highest interest. Conflicting with China is only a method to divert the attention from the domestic problems. The PH has only one boss, not two. Japanese again? That may cause the conflicts in your own country, if JP and US have different policy to PH. Just do not try that. So, I said, it is not an option to JP. The re-interpretation of JP constitution released the right to JP government to build alliance alone, not under the US flag. US will not be happy to see his ally is taken over by his little brother, that is rebelling.

The CPP is the only one who can be the governing party, They have no chance to divert the attention, because the domestic problems have to been solved by themselves, sooner or later. Indeed, we have not oversea towards plan, but still focus on the domestic problems. That is the differences brought by the political system.

Yes we are why do you think we have limited weapons pruchase from the US even if we ahve huge credits? One our budget is cut to the boost our country's economy and improving our country the military is only in 4th place and its fine so going back we are buying from multipule sources like Israel, South Korea and now Japan since they willing to give us friendship price on weapons and we have defense cooperation agreements with them along with many other countries like Serbia were we bought our Mortars for example so its not just the US we can buy so little for them and this Defense my sir as Soverign Country reguardless if we have MDT (Mutual Defense Treaty) We must act and look after our own defense no need to explain that if we are ever attack by anyone we can respond and hold off that's basicly our whole concept of our defense and the MDT only covers attacks by state actors not non state actors and its limited by America delecration of war on said attacker and they have to have force present to defend the Philippines which sometimes they due to the force rotation but most its just the US military advicsory unit and the MDT was made when America had force here so its has holes now you can thank the Maoist drones here for that. So Again we have limited money, We have defense sources for military items not just the US and Philippine Defense is our own responsibility and MDT just additional defense not the main defense which is the job of the Philippine Military and the Filipinos.

Sir we can build it here so on transport my government just needs to get their heads out of their you know what and build us trasnport ships and other auxilary ships. Japan can give us submarines and escort destoryers and those missile boats for the Navy and tank destroyers and armored vechilces missile technology and improve our current small arms production capabilites and other needed technology and planes and helicopters.

Abukuma class destroyer escort (Frigate type), Asagiri-class destroyer (Corvette type), Hayabusa (missile boat) these will be pefrect for the Philippines for many reasons one both the Abukuma and the Asagiri are CODOG vessels and the Philippine Navy is already using (Del Pilar class is the current CODOG vessel in the PN) and planning to buy and use the same Armaments of both classes for the Del Pilar-class(Hamilton class) and the Philippines is looking for multipropose ships like them to build up the fleet and the two class are prefect for the bill of the current Credible Defense plan of the AFP for the Philippine Navy and Since Japan is planning to assist it would be eassy for the Philippines to operate them along with the Hayabusa class to replace all our current OPVs and even out the MACPAC fleet.
Oyashio class would be prefect for the new submarine fleet that the Philippines is currently planing to start well three but it will help the PN officers and men to be familiarized with submarine warfare.

This is perfect to replace our old vietnam era and world war two ships that make up the majority of the Philippine Navy to cover both our fleet replacement air and sea defense strategy and most of this ships are younger with technology we need to study and protect our waters at the same time.
