Most likely such vehicles would be remote-operated, like this robot in the movie "Chappie"

There is a long way to go. I haven't seen or heard about any joints attack by drone aircrafts and infantry or even between drone aircrafts and traditional aircrafts. I believe soldiers prefer having a man in flesh they can trust, rather than the cold steel of the machine.

Well, the using of armed combat drones is quite recent, so a combined arms tactics of drones and conventional weapons may be in the works. As for legged vehicles, the only place such weapons could be effective is urban terrain, but they may be only useful against irregular forces, which rely most of the time on "Technicals"... until one steps on an IED.

If the mecha is a remote-operated unit, then there won't be much problem, but if it is manned, well it may lead to suffering casualties.

But I am pretty sure that in urban place, you won't encounter anyone that uses logs as weapons...

Let's talk about gundam scientifically, guys. I understand that human-size humanoid robot can be made to make use of already existing weapons (mostly small arms), but really anything bigger than a car can be made without taking shape of human. What is the advantages of huge humanoid robots?

LEGS!! obviously. a Mobile Suit, like the name says, is a Suit that is Mobile. it is a Walking Fortress with an Infantry Capabilities, except with much much much destructive weapons. sure it's big and all, and like most humans says is a big target practice, yet there isn't any real Mecha to prove it all.

seriously, about time humans needs to make a Metal Gear :D
a Nuclear Rail Gun mecha capable of firing it in anywhere and on any terrain.

There are many conceal threat in the urban area. Old rubbles can be used to collapsed on millions dollars machine.

But the idea of some one receiving a medal for sitting back at home, enjoying the comfort and safety to control machine like in video games is unfair to some people, certainly. And unlike airforce, infantry are those who have it worst in war. I believe the brass has lots of work to do to keep the troops in check if such drones are employed in the army. Otherwise soldiers will purposedly sabotage the machine.

We already have, except they operate in the sea, and are called "nuclear attack submarines". Any walking fortress will be easy marks for satallites and drones to pick up, not to mention they have to operate in jungles or deserts, lack of local population, making them easy target for commando or spy to infiltrate and sabotage. Also thinking about maintaining all those mechanical legs makes my head spin.

i forgot to tell you that the Metal Gear is one hella stealthy mofo, like seriously, you're a nuclear carrying Mecha yet you're risking yourself to be detected? think of it like the "nuclear attack subs", except it walk on any terrain, let alone it's combat capabilities to unleash hell on tanks and shiz.

this is a super hi tech mofo we're talking about, not some cheap *** metal made by some retards. it takes an extremely competent Commando or a super soldier whose trained specially to take it down, and there isn't any Solid Snake around. so yeah, not gonna happen.

maintaining the legs? leave it to the System. save the headaches to maintaining tanks and subs cuz they'll be out of use once humans can into mass producing this mofo.

Uhm, I think anything move on land creates 2 things: noise and dust. Not to mention there are serveral other things that can reveal MG position: tracks, heat, supply line, troops movement. And once it is detected, an organized airstrike can take it down, much like subs are overwhelmed by anti-sub ships and aircraft.

This is all Japan really needs...

LOL dude, anything that is Overwhelmed is Destroyed, except jesus. not just land, even in the air or under the sea you can detect them with pretty much anything. seriously, it's not fair comparison how a Single Unit can go against pretty much Hundreds of Air Fighters erecting their Missiles at you. you can stealth but you really can't move without making a single bit noise but again, except jesus LOL.

an MG just need to reach the designated position and the rest is up to the Nuke to fly hit the target. think of it like an all terrain Nuclear carrier, with optional weapons for anti land and air units, with exceptional Speed. Nuclear subs can stay crawling on the sea floor. what we need is a one man machine to get the job done, hence Metal Gear.

Man this imperials are in CCP drugs again mobile suit technology is far beyond today's technologies to make this imperials make me laugh with their so called journalistic reporting propaganda is more like it.

I think both US and Russia are working on their exo-skeleton suits, but they are far different from bipedal combat vehicle, as they mostly enchance the infantry physical capablility, not provide heavy protection or heavy firepower. However US has their own sweet robot too. I like the robust look of it.

Don't underestimate things

While not exactly joint with traditional aircraft it does show them working together.

I imagine situation like getting into close dogfight or taking evasive manuveurs against missles. Imagine the stress and tension pilots on the field take, comparing to drone pilots. I am not saying drone pilots have it easy, but at least, they always come out alive.

Furthermore, the ground combat is always messy. Things get close and personal, and even a fraction of second can take away one's life. There the matter of life or dead is even more important and drone pilots become the target to blame for anything and everything on the field.

While this mecha uses tracks, there is a chance that US could make a manned mecha, considering that they made the Petman, Atlas and BigDog robots.

But because of developments, expect China will also have on in the future, most likely similar to the one in Matrix or Avatar (I posted pictures of it in previous page).

The earth is covered 70% with water, and I don't know any underwater city beside Rapture. Looking for a specific sub is like finding needle in a haystack, it could work but doesn't worth it. The land, on the other hand, is flooded with human and is under constant watchful eyes from the sky full of drones, spy planes and satallites. Hiding a walking nuclear base in the middle of the forest is not plausible at all. If you need a moving nuclear silo, I suggest using what the Soviet already made, their nuclear trains.

Unless there are certain advantages for humanoid robot, they will just turn this mecha into a moving gun platform. There goes my mecha dream. :undecided:
