Japan: 50 years of the bullet train

The United States has blocked local suggestions to build a Shinkansen style HSR ever since the 1980's. We Japanese are not surprised. Its their country, their rules.

On positive news tho, one can always take their AMTRAK. ;)

Just say that US don't have the money to build a special track for HSR.

There are a lot of domestic competitors that would see the Shinkansen as a threat. This is why it will never be implemented in the US, for the time being.

I remain hopeful!

I had the pleasure , several years ago, to take the Honam HSR from Seoul to Dongdaegu , the ride was pleasant and professional , clean. The view when through Daejeon was stunning, btw. Korean country side is stellar. :)

Of course, South Korea has been an active investor in Turkey's infrastructure for quite some time. Both countries share quite good relations. In fact, South Korea has had historical relations with the Middle East as a whole; during the infancy years of Hyundai, Daewoo, Kia, these companies were heavily involved in infrastructure development in Saudi Arabia (Jeddah, Riyadh), which bolstered these companies' exposure to the region and confidence on their product by the locals.
Well probably the train that you took would probably just a KTX using conventional line in which case the maximum speed of it would be about up to 150 or 170 km/h. Sadly there hadn't been any high-speed line opened in honam area even a few years ago the one which opens is this year or a year later.

p.s. the line connecting from Seoul through Daegu to Busan is called GyeungBu line (경부선 京釜線)

Well, I'm hoping that Korea can open a more HSR routes in the Honam area, soon. And yes, it was the Gyeongbu , if my memory serves me right. Aren't they building or planning to open ones in Daejeon and Daegu ?

Btw, here are some pictures of the KTX in Korea,
