What's new

Jan 25 - Language Martyrs Day (Anti-Hindi Agitation Tamilnadu)

1. Approved methane project in thanjavur, nagapatinam districts which will desert the fertile lands which are the heart of TN agriculture...
2. Sterilite was opposed by other states, now it is in tuticorin TN.
3. Are we going to get kaveri water? NO
4. Are we going to get mullai periyar water?NO
5. We cried when our fishermen were killed, did the centre heard? NO
6. Is the ban against jallikattu will be lifted?NO

Why the hell we should continue as indian??

Not my views.. I just did the translation of a poster pasted in madurai, which got my attraction.... I believe symptoms are clear for a new separatist movement.. In my view, it would be most likely lead by seeman...

Salute to the martyrs. We will not stop till all languages in 8th schedule get same rights as bimaru hindi and english..we will not allow imposition of backward UP culture in TN.. I also wish Pakistanis get rid of urdu/hindi as its just a backward UP/Bihar culture and should promote their native languages

I want equal rights for all indian languages and more federalism so that we can use our state tax for our own development. Till then im tamil first.

We should fight within indian system as without south india, north india is indistinguisable from their pakistani brothers which is not a good thing.

seeman is not a good leader we have more educated youth now compared to 1965 and we are not weak as we were then.. the gap between TN and bimaru states is even more pronounced and we can easily achieve our goals this time

What special status you want? Why do you compare a language spoken by 72 million people in one state of India with a language spoken by/understood by 400 million people in 10-12 states of India.

And what are the "native" languages of Pakistan? Arabic?

Dont compare karnataka with your state. Only the govt tried to do some votebank politics by trying to make kannada compulsary in schools. The people opposed the move and supreme court also struck it down

Here even the autowallahs and maids speak or atleast understand Hindi. That dows not mean that they have abandoned their culture. It is just that they assimilated into a melting pot culture.

Ever wondered why IT industry could never take off in TN as compared to Andhra and Karnataka. I think one of the reason may be the strict language policy and the "Tamil is in danger" mindset of people like you

What right does Hindi have which Tamil does not have?you were opposing the impostion of Hindi. So I guess you want some kind of special status for Tamil. Because as per the constitution both are in the 8th schedule

thanks for letting me know (as i live in TN) that today is Language martyrs day.otherwise i would not have known.i have been living in TN for last 5 years.

Hindi ppl and ignorance are twins hence proved...

a tamil MP cannot take oath in tamil.. central govt exams are provided in english and hindi alone.. none of the languages in 8th schedule has these rights enjoyed by hindi/english

Yes Hindi and English are official languages because they are spoken/understood by majority of the people in the country and act as a link language. When a Gujrati has to speak to a bengali they will use Hindi/English. But this does not mean that they are abandoning their own language and culture.

Why is that only Tamils fear this "invasion" of Hindi

Where is the IT hub of Tamil Nadu as compared to Bangalore/Hyderabad?

The rise of automobile industry in TN is because it is a manufacturing industry. It does not require specialised labour as done by IT industry. You can have that industry without the knowledge of global language like English or country wide link language like Hindi. So it faces no problem if people only know tamil.
