It would serve well given his calibre.

Jack Ma, co-founder of China’s most valuable company, was officially confirmed as a member of the Communist Party in a state-backed newspaper recognizing business leaders for their contributions to the country’s development.
Ma, co-founder and chairman of e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., is one of 100 people the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee will honor as part of a celebration marking 40 years since the country’s economic reform and opening up. The honorees also include Tencent Holdings Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Pony Ma, Baidu Inc. CEO Robin Li, basketball star Yao Ming and volleyball coach Lang Ping.

The lines between business and politics have become increasingly hazy in China as President Xi Jinping has led a campaign to ensure the Communist Party plays a leading role across all aspects of society. That has at time created tensions when the interests of private business people and the state have conflicted.
We’re seeing an increasingly close relationship between China’s leading internet companies and government because government sees them as one of the most effective ways to realize its policy initiatives," said Mark Natkin managing director of Beijing-based Marbridge Consulting. "Being a party member is essentially tipping your hat to the legitimacy of the party and it doesn’t necessarily denote any particularly high level of political activity."

Under the leadership of Deng Xiaoping, China began launching economic reforms in 1978 that moved away from traditional Communist doctrine and allowed for private enterprise. That eventually led to robust growth that turned the country into the world’s second-largest economy, behind the U.S.

The list of 100 people to be recognized on the 40th anniversary is being made public for review until Nov. 30, according to the People’s Daily newspaper. Beyond business leaders and sports stars, the list includes scientists, astronauts and artists.

Ma is the richest man in China with a net worth of $38.4 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Ma said in September he plans to hand the executive chairman role to CEO Daniel Zhang next year.

third priority, after customers and employees. Despite a slide in its stock price this year, Alibaba is valued at more than $400 billion and ranks among the top 10 most valuable companies in the world.

Ma has been a vocal backer of President Xi’s policies in the past few years. In 2016, he proposed that the nation’s top security bureau use big data to prevent crime, endorsing China’s effort to build unparalleled online surveillance of its billion-plus people.

After Xi last year indicated that tackling inequality was becoming as important as boosting economic growth, Ma was one of the first to respond. He told a state publication that entrepreneurs who’ve obtained affluence have a responsibility to help others catch up.

What a great change.

And where do you think China's adversary will be after ten years? Time is on everyone's side.
We will see in 10 years !
And we will see what Huawei can acheive in 2 years!

I am wondering what CHINA can acheive in the next 40 years!
Not only economically number 1 but also the leader of the globe which tolerates culture diversity and finally a leader who can erase wars and pursues benefits and happiness on behalf of all human kind!!

I'm not fond with multi party Democracy either. It is full of fighting between elite politicians. They don't care about their country; but only for the gain of their party. Every 4 - 5 years, you will be presented by fighting and hoax news from both side. The opposition parties will do whatever they can to tarnish the government reputation, so people will choose them at the next election day. And the worst is, that they don't care about long term planning. They just do whatever they can to raise their popularity. So there is no consistent project that can surpass 4 - 5 years time.

But still, China need to adopt Trias Politica system, and separate their judiciary (law) from other branch of power.

Key industries are firmly in the hands of the government, all lands belong to the country, every inch of them, government dictates on the development of everything, almost all schools, hospitals ,banks... belong to the government, no capitalist countries are like that.
Interesting. But what exactly is the governments role? Is it to regulate or to directly control industries and institutions?

Which "key" industries belong in the hands of the government (weapons industry?)? Can you be precise?

No. If you see the system of Chinese government, it still communist. Their judicial system, etc still use communist system. It is not even a Republic, as Republic has trias politica system. But China hasn't.

That's why I was so confused, long time ago when I see the hierarchy of Chinese Government. Like the relation between President, Prime Minister and CCP Party leader position. Because they are not a separation power like what Trias Politica dictated. And I was confused about how Xi reform their judicial system, because actually they are not separated from the government. I was surprise when I read about how their Judiciary system were managed by regional government, and then reformed by Xi to become centralized and managed by their central government.
So the judiciary system is under the central government? Then what are the checks and balances in this system?

10 years ago in 2008 Obama claimed that China's infrastructure is catching up with US, and he was ridiculed and laughed at by all Americans. Fast forward to 2018, China has the best infrastructure in the world had long become a well established fact, that's how 10 years can do with a country, and let's think about another 10 years from now.

Everything you can think of. You can say that's a crazy system and start bashing it as all westerners do, but it serves our country well and we don't care what others feel about it cause it's a system for us, not for others.

Yes, I agree. China system has it's own perk. The only thing that they need to reform is the judiciary system. The law should be independent, so no body can use the law for their own gain. I'm sure you are agree about this. But it just a matter of time.

There are two systems in CHINA ,the CCP system and the government system ,if you are an official, even you are not fined by government law,you may be fined by CCP laws,so the chance you get caught when you did things illegally is doubled.
You could say CHINA is a dual government country!

CHINA s problem is how to make sure evey emperor is good one and how to limit their powers !
NOT to cancle this emperor!
