I have always maintained that Articles 370 and 35A were unconstitutional and similar to the undertakings given by the Nehru government to the UNO, were never actually meant for long term implementation by India but were actually meant for short term reassurances to the west after India had practically invaded J&K. Like the UN assurances on plebiscites etc, it was simply India's attempt to weaken any arguments put forth by Pakistan against the invasion and practically toy with Pakistan which India superbly did. I always questioned why the Vajpayee government never revoked those articles for the unconstitutional mess which they were. I never expected the Congress government to go and undo a mess which Nehru had created. With the election of Modi, one would have expected that the issue would have been raised earlier. Good to see that it is now being questioned. It is overdue that J&K became integrated into the rest of India and that Indian start moving into J&K to ensure that its economy benefits from the positives which the rest of India is currently witnessing
