It is true that Chinese dont believe in god, but Chinese badly need Pakistan for their oil and gas needs, bcoz in case of war with US it cant fight with US for more than 15 days , China will run out of oil. US will cut Oil supply to China in Indian Ocean only, like India did to Pakistan in Karachi blockade.
Therefore China needs alternate oil supply route and this by land route is offered by Pakistan, which is also safe ( from blockade ) . Therefore China will be forced to change its communist ideology atleast if it wants to deal with Pakistan. Bcoz Pakistan is essential for China and China can not develop quickly without Pakistans help. China needs Pakistan more than Pakistan needs China.

china is developing all kindas of alternitive, including but not limited to

land routes through central Asia(Pakistan can fit into this plan)
using Russia as a provider(lines are comming online)
reducing dependence(this may never succeed 100%)
increasing naval power (happening for the last 20 years)

our relationships for the most part have nothing to do with ideology, china doesnt export communism, it doesn't advocate pakistan turn atheist. are you suggesting pakistan will only deal with china is china turns islamic? cause then you would be way off.
