So here goes the most awaited result.
Competing in world's largest mars rover challenge among 82 teams from 13 countries at URC, our team IUB Attendant has achieved the glory of being in 10th position. Ya Bangladesh is world's one of the top 10 mars rover builder.
It was a trmendous challenge to compete against universities like Cornell, Michigan, California (http://urc.marssociety.org/home/team-info) etc and defeating them in such complicated challenges.
We took part with a rover built from scratches and materials that costs merely 10% of their rover. But yet with tremendous hardwork and dedication we uphold our country. Out emotions went over the boundary when we put our flag with such a pride.
Thanks to every single person who supported us. Its just a matter of time when we will be in the no 1 position of space research.
Special thanks to CSE, IUB for funding and all the support.

The competition held from held June 1-3 at the Mars Desert Research Station
Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) has been ranked tenth among 82 teams of the 2017 University Rover Challenge (URC), an international competition where teams showcase potential next-generation Mars rovers.

Five more teams from Bangladesh–Brac University, American International University, Bangladesh (AIUB), Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Islamic University of Technology (IUT) and United International University have secured 20th, 32nd, 33rd, 34th and 36th positions respectively.

The Mars Rover Design Team (MRDT) from the Missouri University of Science and Technology became the first team from the United States to win the URC challenge since 2010 and PCz Rover Team from the Częstochowa University of Technology won second place.

The international robotics competition for university students, which is part of the Mars Society’s Rover Challenge Series, featured an elite field of teams vying to build the world’s best student-designed Mars rover.

A record 82 teams from 13 countries took part in #URC2017. Following a rigorous two-stage down-selection process 36 teams were invited to the field competition at MDRS.

35 teams from seven countries arrived with their rovers ready for the exciting challenges in the Utah desert.

The competition held from held June 1-3 at the Mars Desert Research Station in Hanksville, Utah, as Utah desert resembles the rocky terrain of Mars.

I expected DUET to come up on top from Bangladesh. Congrats to the team.

@Loafer @Nilgiri

Yup excellent job by all participants. It often boils down to how much attention the project gets from the university participating. Explains why some top names ranked worse than one would expect (McGill, Cornell, IIT madras, DUET etc), and why many big names didnt even join the contest in first place (like not even one name from say China, Australia, Japan, France, Germany etc):

Contest like these should be encouraged.... not matter how big or small the uni is.... I mean like, if I was an engineering student.... I would have want to participate.... so yeah. :)

Well there are often rankings within the university for capstone projects. Some are deemed more privileged than others (regarding jobs, further research avenues etc). It varies from uni to uni so a rover may not be LIST A especially if its the very first year of introduction. Normally in North America the real meat comes when the project matures say from 3rd consecutive year onwards....and submission to such competitions is worthwhile.
