'Centre bowed down to Modi's demand'

The Union government bowed down to Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi who had demanded lifting of the ban on cotton export, a BJP minister*on Tuesday*said in the state Assembly. * State Water Resources minister Nitin Patel made this claim during the

question-answer session in the Assembly.
He was replying to a question, asked by BJP MLA from Bayad in Sabarkantha Udaysinh Zala on the government's efforts for groundwater recharging in Sabarkantha district.

"It was because of chief minister Narendra Modi's letter, that the Union government had to roll back its decision of banning cotton exports. The Centre has bowed down to the chief minister's letter," Patel claimed.

Patel made this claim after some of the Congress MLA interrupted him, while he was giving details of the water recharging and hand-pumps installed in the tribal areas.

The Congressmen alleged that the government was acting unfairly towards the tribals and poor farmers.

Patel alleged that it was the Congress-led UPA government that was "anti-farmers", as they had banned cotton export.

Congress further alleged that the government had issued a notification that if a hand-pump was to be installed on a private land, the land has to be first surrendered to the government.

To this, Patel said that one MLA from the Congress was found to be "misusing funds" to get hand-pumps installed on his land and for other purposes, which is why, the government issued a notification in November last year.

Where does the word Italian figure anywhere in the C&P article ?

Changing the title of a thread to earn brownie points by getting members to view a thread created by a simple C & P job amounts to insulting the intelligence of members of the forum.

Allow them the brains to view a thread on its merit ..please.

The Mainos wanted to earn on cotton futures in the commodity exchange but Shri Modiji forced them to open up the cotton exports.

WTF....why did they lift the ban on cotton exports..? It was a very good move to protect the interest of Indian garment sector which instead of exporting raw cotton would have exported finished textiles at competitve prices.

By exporting cotton we are only favorring the BD garment sector and Chinese garment sector.

Fcuk u Modiji.

By opening the Cotton to international market, the farmers who toil in the sun to get their cotton harvested get a better pay when the INDIAN garment sector compete for the cotton with the Chinese buyers.
We can not sacrifice our farmers for the sake of making some Garment company owners wallet fat.
Farmers first and then comes the Garment sector.

You have no idea about value addition.

It'a always a stupid thing to export the raw mwterials when you have the capability to export the finished goods. How do you think the British gobbled up our trade in the 1800s? They got raw material from India and exported back to us the finished goods.

No one needs to be sacrificed for the other..farmers need not be sacrificed for garment sector and garment sector need no be sacrificed for farmers. Each one should compete on his own merit and govt should make the environment for advancing the economy based on that. Its because of these mindless moves that Indian economy is stagnating today.

And what gave you the opinion all textile sector owners are fat rich cows..? There are hundreds of thousands of small sector "tharis", weavers too which function from homes and who are going out of work because of the high cost of imported cotton as our Indian cotton is exported and are wallowing in utter poverty.

And not all farmers are poor. Toil in the sun ? C'mon this is not 15th century...the land owners never toil in the sun..the laborers toil in the sun and the land owners sleep in AC in many cases.

When you open the market for international buyers, the price of the product is given a international value which is stable and the local buyers have to give the same price as the INTERNATIONAL buyers,
I myself a land owner, work hard in my land during week ends with my father to grow our coconuts, but at the end what is the price we get, we get a price that is bellow the minimum support price which is 51 rs / kg of copra.
if you want to see for your self go and check the First Commodidy Exchange site.
May be in north INDIA the land lords sleep, but here in south we work on our land, alongside the people that we employee in our fields.

wtf is srri modiji. Are you going to worship him now.
Noone is worshiping him, with no responsibility or information to process at our end, we are making tall claims. He is the CM of a state, he has a lot of buracrats to take advice from, and has more inputs than what you and I have and that is the reason he has asked the government to with draw the ban. he works for his people, his farmers and Gujarat is the largest producer of cotton in the country.

Shri Moti ji's followers are truly fanatic - you can tell by this guy's continued pimping of him after we had warned him not to. Which only validates my opinion that the day this vile becomes PM of India, India will be far worse off than what Pakistan was when Zardari became President. I won't wish this horror on India.
