What's new

Italian forces ignored a sinking ship full of Syrian refugees and let more than 250 drown.

His side was to NOT acknowledge the fault done by the Italian navy... by not rescuing those migrants... even tho' they were able to...

Is that your side too?

My side is noting the Hypocritical behaviour of You, complaining about others with the Tunisian Navy doing nothing.
The situation has been like this for years, and the Tunisian Navy has chosen to avoid getting resources to handle it.
The Italian Navy is certainly avoiding the responsibility, shoved upon it,
by the Maltese, and by the refugee smugglers/refugees, who act irresponsible.

See... Still NOT acknowledging a fault done by someone... who could have done it with AVAILABLE forces around...

In the End ... you are not worth...this discussion...

Have FUn Alone ... I truly pity you... :)

There are faults made by everyone.
1. The guys owning the ship (wreck), that should not have left the harbour.
2. The refugees, for boarding the wreck.
3. The Libyans for letting the wreck leave the harbour.
4. The Maltesans for not patrolling their area.
5. The Italians for not responding when they are closests.
6. Tunisians for not avoiding taking bigger responsibility.
7. You for beeing hypocritical, focusing only on the Italians.

Right now for this SPECIFIC incident... ITALIANS WERE IN THE WRONG... they could but didn't. Period.

But since you love your 7 God ruling point... here for you...

1. THere is no harbour... since those migrants are joining those BIG boat via small ones/plastic ones...
2. Refugees have no WRONG... They have every right to leave for a better life. Period
3. Libyan are doing their parts with the LIMITED vessels they have... to this day they have only few for a coast line of 1500km... Italians with a big fleet...can't even stop boats in a 200-250km... Door line...
4. Same for MAlta...they do not have vessels enough to patrol all of those area...
5. Ofc Italians are NOT in the wrong if they DIDN'T SEE that boat... BUT THEY DID and REFUSED to HELP. Period
6. Tunisia can't PATROL THOSE AREA!!. and with the little we have... WE STOPPED EVERY boat from our cost to leave... So we did our job... Like EU is giving €€ to Italian navy to patrol ... Give us some and we will do it too by buying more adequates ones... :)
7. Hypocrits seems to be your favorite word... And YES THE WRONG is FOR THIS incident toward ITALIAN NAVY FOR NOT HELPING, even tho' THEY WERE ABLE TO... MEANING THEY CHOOSED TO LET THEM DIE. Period

Have Fun.

Tunisia have every right to maintain vessels inside Tunisias patrol zone AND can rescue
people outside the zone, as long as they are on International Waters.
They apparently choose to avoid that.

Economic refugees have zero rights, refugees from persecution have the right to escape to
a country where they are no longer persecuted.
Very few of those coming from Libya fulfil the requirements to be granted asylum.

If You look at the map provided by @Penguin , it shows that the Maltese appears to not have a single ship in the Western third of their patrol area.
That explains why they granted a total of 6,000 asylum in 15 years.

In the End as you said it well... Malta can't do the job... and Tunisia neither... it's not we don't want to IT'S WE CAN'T! We do not have Adequate vessels to patrol those far deep water area...
TN navy ordered this year an off shore patrol vessel from Damen... for this specific missions... so it will be our first vessels FOR THOSE types of mission. Period

What is you point? Flogging Italy? Without Italy thousends and thousend more would be dead. Not one word from you about the peoplesmugglers in Libya, thank you.

Migrants (as distinct from refugees) - who pay $1,500 per "seat" on the boats - are considered a kind of ATM by smugglers, who also control the detention centres where migrants are held. Nobody cares if migrants arrive in Europe alive or if they die drowned in the sea ... they are worse than murderers. In Lybia, corrupt coastguards give migrants to the militias, and the militias keep them in illegal detention centres," he said. "There, they start to blackmail migrants. They take their money, phones, documents. With the phone numbers they find in their mobiles, smugglers call their families asking for ransom to free them. The militias also sell them to masters in the area who use them to work for free. Fighting them is almost impossible, even for the official police. Often the Coast Guard itself recovers rafts ... and gives them to the militias that control human trafficking.

Italy has 5 x the population of Tunisia, but get 200 x the number of refugees.
You and Malta can't handle it because you choose to avoid the refugees.
If Tunisia had accepted refugees into their country, there would be much less
need for taking boat trips.

. . .
Italy should reserve a piece of coastal area to be a sanctuary, in which Italian and EU laws are suspended. Instead, a much relaxed set of laws, esp. those related to environment, business and employment, are put in place and enforced by Italian security forces. Make this sanctuary a free trade zone.

All refugees and illegal immigrants will be shipped there. Refugees' lives are safe and Italians can make a few bucks by utilizing cheap labors. Best for the both worlds.

.
Refugees usually get treated not so well by everyone, and no one is exempt here. Even if refugees get a place to stay, the locals are sometimes frustrated with them and treat them as second class. As regards to this migrating ship behavior, I'm against it for anybody. It's dangerous and should not be done just to get European citizenship. Doesn't matter who does it, even non-refugees have tried it. It's not a legal process either.

As for Italy, these migrants should have been saved then deported, never should we humans allow people to sink and die irregardless. And it makes it worse once circumstances of migrants are known. As for OP, Italy is a big player in your region, so it makes sense why you criticize them. I don't know the full extent of Italy's policies in North Africa so I'll leave that to you guys to discuss.

As for mass migration, obviously Europeans like to remain with their heritage. Sometimes it makes some of them racist. But, Italy is known to be important for Christianity and I'm sure Christians want it to remain a Christian nation in foreseeable future. That I agree with too, it's part of their history, culture, and played great role in Europe's fate. Muslims would be upset if Christians began mass migrating to Saudi Arabia, since I'm sure we want that to remain Muslim too. The history and significance is too important for both peoples.

ITaly is already doing so... 90% of Labors in South Italy, like agricultural fields are migrants... paid like slaves for 20h job..; and yet they still crying about it...
BTW most of Migrants coming to Italy do not stay there... Italy is ajust a transiting country...to get in FR/GER and UK...

Italy has one of the less "Immigrants" in the area.. while being the BIGGEST transit road of migrants... WHY? you may ask? simple... Italy is not a good country to live...
