Ministry of Information Technology & ISPR are collaborating for the development and promotion of the animation industry in Pakistan. Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Syed Amin Ul Haque, Secretary IT & Telecom Mr. Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar were present at a meeting held regarding the aforementioned topic today in ISPR headquarters.

The global market of the animation industry is valued at $270 billion and expected to grow to $415 Billion by 2025. Pakistan has huge potential to become a part of this growing industry. Currently, Pakistani animators have limited access to the required infrastructure and professional training/courses. The animation industry can contribute significantly to the economy of Pakistan. It can generate job opportunities, bring foreign investment, and can help us prepare a trained workforce.

The animation industry is not just contributing to entertainment only but it has been vastly adopted in, education, healthcare, engineering, and defense. A collaborative effort will be made to promote animation in different segments of society for growth and prosperity.

In the context of enabling potential entrepreneurs in the field of animation, a dedicated Animation Incubation Centre has also been proposed in the chalked out plan. Short courses pertaining to animation, gaming, and designing will be introduced to train human resources in specialized fields. The collaboration between MolTT and ISPR will act as a tangible head start in promoting the animation industry of Pakistan.

Get few IT youngsters... give them access to Blender 3D and use YouTube to teach em... 3D is the new model... even 2D should have 3D to support it..

For how many times I have said.. that send your graduates to EU if you want to create a scientist/engineer/skill workers pool.

Import few Pakistanis back like who made safeguard add animations, etc..
be like Air Marshal Noor Khan who get Jahangir Khan trained in UK as we didn't have facility and just see the records.
Get rid of the mentality that we can train our people unless we have experts already with colossal experience, otherwise "garbage in and garbage out".
We have missed a lot in not only engineering but arts/production/picturization...

ISLAMABAD: The German Ambassador to Pakistan Bernhard Schlezak has on Monday called on federal science and technology minister Fawad Chaudhry wherein the two discussed enhancing bilateral coordination with German cooperation in science and technology sectors, ARY News reported.
A tweet earlier today by the Ministry of Science & Technology’s official Twitter handle, announced that Pakistan has sought cooperation from Germany in the field of science, specifically in the manufacturing of electro-medical equipment.

It further noted that collaboration in the gaming and animation industry will be enhanced with Germany which will serve as a game-changer for the relations Pakistan and Germany maintain presently.
Separately, the science minister also brought to light the need of organizing academic lectures by Nobel laureates for Pakistani universities to encourage science students and dilettantes.

Separately today in a major turn of events, the federal IT minister Syed Aminul Haque has been appointed as president of Global Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) committee of the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), a sub-organization of G20 countries.
According to the details, Aminul Haq has been selected for the important position due to his prominent role in the IT and telecom sector in Pakistan.

Why do we make things so difficult for us?

COOP is a great program but I am not in favor of sending anyone outside of Pakistan because 30% to 40% won’t come back to Pakistan.
We can arrange advance training in Pakistan. We must find Pakistani SME in animation and Game development field.
  • Let’s keep it simple.......end goal is to have a pool of talented individuals who are SME in Graphics, Animation and game development.
  • Make the announcement in News paper and TV commercial that Government will provide free training to 1000 people for Graphics/2D/3D/Animation and Game development and internship to selected individuals.
  • Ask individuals to apply via portal
  • Filter out most suited for this training.
  • Announce date for skill testing.
  • Government should purchase Animation and Game development training course from Udemy, Pluralsight, Lynda or any other internally recognized training platform.
  • After initial testing, Selected individuals should be granted access to the course.
  • Once they finish the course, they should be invited for second set of testing.
  • Those who passed should be selected for free advance training/Internship.
  • Government should give them room and board for 6 weeks during advance training/internship (Basically isolating them so they can Concentrate)
  • Those who passed the training and has required skills should be provided Job.
  • Pakistan can provide training to 1000 for the price of 100 CoOps.

why is the state marking cartoons? Do we not have enough sat in the assemblies and the courts?

Hollywood Send majority of animation works to 3rd party in India. If we have the individuals with required skills in Pakistan, we can take that business away from India. Also, gaming industry is huge and we can make some money.

It's a very powerful tool that can be used for exporting softimage of Pakistan i.e. Japanese: Anime/manga, USA: Disney/ Marvel

MoIT I understand but why is ISPR involved? Do they have expertise in animation? What am I missing here? Genuinely confused.

I am not sure if I believe the article is correct about ISPR involvement. If it’s true, ISPR may want the SMEs to promote positive image of Pakistani arm forces via animation and game development.

As mentioned by another member, gaming industry has a potential to grow to 300 billon+ in next 2 years. We need to start training our Youth to be part of this industry.

I would also like government/private educational institutions to develop “gifted and talented” program and develop/train the children based on their potential. 10 years old can learn coding if taught properly.
