Well..... I was talking about future...but you preferred to stuck in the past....So lets talk.....in 1980s and 1990s ......our main focus was on building Nuclear Warheads....to make our country undefeatable......we spent our all money and scientists on that purpose....
Now, we are focusing on space......
India Is the second most populous country of the word.......but it could not even built his own Space station which America and Russia did 1970s....NASA reached the moon in 1969 but the second.....most populous ountry of the world India unable to do it....

BTW HysIS has military applications as well. Can easily detect underground bunkers and submarines.

Hysis satellite required a highly sophisticated chip to be used in it which was developed in-house by ISRO Space Application center Karnavati and fabricated in Chandigarh lab

The specialty of the mission is that satellites were injected in totally different orbit lowering the orbit by maneuvering forth stage by firing it twice.Indian satellite was injected south of India where other 30 satellites were injected on Africa by reigniting forth stage motor twice. Thi was a highly complex mission completed very easily. I am not sure which other space agency can perform this sort of complex mission. This mission would certainly have envyed few space agencies in the world.

The fourth stage makes about a full orbit around the earth carrying the 30 co-passengers.

But this is just usual business for ISRO now.

India's poverty is't going to be cured by stopping such missions but by improving delivery of governance services and reducing corruption related losses to economy that prevent benefits from reaching the people they are meant for.
Indian space program is already making money (through Antrix Corporation) and out own Satellite and remote sensing system has given us rich dividends when you see areas like telecommunication, Weather Forecasting, Resource utilization (Agriculture and mining specifically) and above all the fact that we as nation don't have to depend on anyone for such basic things that a successful space program brings.
High tech areas are usually the easiest targets for people who like to demean things but reality couldn't be far away from it.

You have outdated figures. Update your knowledge. We have pulled out 300 million population out of poverty in last decade and half. We are now in Post hunger poverty stage and rapidly providing them with GAS connection, Houses, assured 120 days employment top class medical facilities and other amenities to poor people to bring them in middle class. We act very fast. We are not the people who barks only without doing anything.

Since the rocket carried 30 paying customer satellites , its a profit centre for india.
A number of excellent websites where you can watch launch of satellites from any country. Good technical discussions too. Was reading about the japanese probe to venus and the latest photographs it sent recently. Exciting stuff.
