ISRO: No Manned Mission to Moon

Actually MK3 has a capacity of 10 tonnes to LEO not 5 tonnes .

I can't find a credible source for that claim(if you got please share it) even ISRO's website doesn't has anything on that it just says it can launch heavier satellites weighing 5 tonnes that's it doesn't even specifies to LEO or GTO. My guess is it can carry payload greater than 5 tonnes to LEO but not as much as 10 tonnes probably around 7-8 tonnes to LEO and around 5 tonnes to GTO just a guess btw.

India is one vision less country. Our politicians have no vision hence we lack in scientific development and progress.

I am not saying that putting a man on moon should be India's priority as of now, but at least we need to have a master plan for ISRO till 2050. It seems like ISRO is totally clueless about what it is going to do apart from sending TIN can satellites to mars and venus.

We need to have a roadmap so that we can be leaders in space instead of being followers like we have been since the beginning of space race.

Silly statement dude. They didn't say they aren't gonna do it later. They said they're gonna focus on manned mission now. ISRO has never lacked ambition at any time!

Guys !!!

forget about manned mission to the moon ... at least right now !

there are so many things to do ...

1- Demonstrating life support system

2- Making a reliable spacecraft

3- a reliable rocket

4- unmanned test flight

5- Success !

>>>

Step 1 : Not easy task (Iran mastered this technology after six tests & It is not still tested on human)

Step 2 : Not easy task !

Step 3 : If you take a look at GSLV (Mk-1/2) program, you can see some failures ...

Is your Mk-III rocket reliable !?

we will find out in 2017 ...

Step 4 : depends on Step 3 ... if we don't count other scenarios !

Step 5 : If you send first indian into space successfully !

>>>

Ok guys ... lets calculate ... how many years you need to pass all of the challenges !?

5 years ?

6 years ?

or 10 years ?

Think about possible failures ...

& this is all about sending a man into the orbit ... a manned moon mission is a mandingo challenge !

You need a big mount of money !

I wonder if India had accomplished any of these steps.

thats common sense(unlike some members' who think that it is unacceptable).manned mission isn't in ISRO's priority list.so,forget about Manned Moon Mission for atleast a decade.who bother about manned mission when unmanned mission can be achieved in much less fund and could gain more info and includes less risk???

Saturn V rocket which was used by NASA in Appolo missions had the capacity to carry 100 tonnes of payload to LEO while strongest rocket currently in development by ISRO i.e. GSLV MK3 has capacity of just 5 tonnes and wont be operational atleast till the end of this decade. Even thinking of such mission rightnow is plain stupidity.

GSLV Mk3 first flight might happen this year itself (if jan 5 goes well)

The topic of this thread is 'NO Moon mission'. Having said that we have programs for advanced stages of manned flight, including engineering versions of space suit.

I wonder if India had accomplished any of these steps.

There is another problem !

GSLV Mk-III has 2 solid fuel strap on boosters ...

Solid fuel rocket is not a good choice for a manned mission ... & we all know why !

Seems like India would need a rocket other than MKIII to send man to space. Maybe India can contract Space X to carry Indians to space.

Best of luck :-)

Space X !? :what:

But India still do not have a life support system. A reliable capsule, and above all, a reliable rocket that can safely carry man to space. India is 5-10 years away from sending a man to space after acquire a reliable rocket to carry man to space. And we are not sure if MKIII is the right rocket to carry man to space.

Manned mission to the moon requires a big rocket like Saturn V to carry a manned module as well as space docking capability, neither of which India currently has.

The bold part , Can you explain why ??
