Israeli settlements in West Bank not illegal: Trump adviser

JERUSALEM,: Donald Trump’s adviser on Israel said Wednesday that Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank were not illegal and he believed the candidate agreed with him, putting them at odds with much of the world.

Speaking to AFP after a rally in support of Trump at a restaurant’s rooftop on Jerusalem’s Mount Zion, David Friedman also said the US presidential candidate was “tremendously sceptical” about the prospects for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Trump pledges strong US ties with India if elected president

Asked whether Trump viewed the West Bank as part of Israel, as many far-right Israelis do, Friedman did not answer directly. “I don’t think he believes that the settlements are illegal,” Friedman said.

Israeli religious nationalists see the Palestinian territory as part of the country, citing Jews’ connection to the land from biblical times. The United States has intensified criticism of Israeli settlement building in the West Bank in recent months, warning it is eating away at hopes for a two-state solution.

Settlements in the West Bank are viewed as illegal under international law and major stumbling blocks to peace efforts as they are built on land seized in the 1967 Middle East war and which the Palestinians see as part of their future state.

Trump rejects new assault claims, slams international plot

Around 150 people, including right-wing Israelis and evangelical Christians, attended Wednesday’s rally outside the walls of Jerusalem’s Old City and near the flashpoint Al-Aqsa mosque compound. The compound is holy to both Muslims and Jews, who refer to it as the Temple Mount. It is located in east Jerusalem, occupied by Israel in 1967 and later annexed in a move never recognised by the international community.

Friedman reiterated that Trump would recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move the US embassy there — which would break with decades of precedent and put Washington at odds with most UN member states.

There were chants of “lock her up” when Trump’s Democrat rival Hillary Clinton’s name was mentioned at the rally ahead of the November 8 vote — a common refrain among Trump supporters who want to see her jailed over an emails scandal.

Clinton blames Trump, WikiLeaks, Moscow after new leaks

“I hate Hillary. She’s the same like (Barack) Obama,” said Ran Hofman, 54, who waved an Israeli flag. “They screw up the whole world.” A brief video message from Trump of about one minute was played at the event. “Together we will stand up to the enemies like Iran, bent on destroying Israel and her people,” Trump said. “Together we will make America and Israel safe again.”

Israel could commit genocide and white christian guilt over the holocaust would justify it.

US politicians care more about Israeli Jews than American citizens.

Better schools...we have no money.

Israel needs $36bil - pocket change...

.
He also has said that he will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Its not strange since the jewish lobby controls everything in US. America bombs 7 muslim countries to create artificial hatred between the west and the muslim world for the shake of Israel

Most of the settlements are quite legal in international law; the world has been busy pretending otherwise for years.

Under its Charter - Article 80 - the U.N. doesn't have the authority to take away the areas that Jews were encouraged to "closely settle" under the Palestine Mandate, so all U.N. resolutions that try to do so are without legal merit.

The few settlements that can be considered illegal are those that encroach land privately owned by Arabs. Land ownership under the applicable Ottoman laws is not a simple and clear matter and these issues often go to Israeli courts, which then sometimes order Jewish settlements dismantled or not, depending on cases' legal merits.

I notice that no Muslim or Arab ever seems to consider that the lands seized from Jews after WWI in Muslim-majority countries have been illegally settled by Arabs, but that's exactly the case under applicable international law: the Jews were not to lose any of the property and civil rights they enjoyed under the Ottomans. Yet the Jews were robbed and given the boot without a peep from most Arabs and to this day Pakistanis have never voiced any objection to the matter.

There is a solution for this. To make Arabs feel guilty for their actions against Jews and force them to invade Europe or America and create a Jewish puppet state, like the west did in the case of Israel...

No one cares for Palestinians. This will never change.

Here is an example of "normalization" between an Arab country and Israel that no one says anything bad about.

Qatar's ambassador to the Palestinian Authority, Mohamed al-Emadi, entered Gaza yesterday.

He came through the Erez crossing, which means that he went through Israel to do it.

And it isn't the first time. He has visited a number of times before, each time coordinating with Israel.

Qatar has given about a billion dollars to help Gaza, far more than any other Arab country, and it is a very hands-on procedure. Qatar chooses who gets the money and for what projects - in coordination with Israel.

He meets with Israeli generals and other officials. This NPR article from last year notes:

Yossi Kuperwasser, former head of research for Israel's military intelligence, says that there's one good reason Israel is helping Qatar help Gaza.

"Nobody else is ready to help but Qatar," he says.

Kuperwasser says that because Hamas is not only a militia but also the de facto government, improving life in Gaza could deter Hamas from war.

"We believe that better conditions in Gaza would lessen the incentive of Hamas and the population to go again to a war," he says. "So in a way, it is helping the deterrence. But the purpose is to improve the conditions of the people of Gaza and enable them to live a respectable life."

Emadi also meets with Hamas as well.

Last year Emadi even praised Israel and slammed Arab countries over helping Gaza rebuild, a move that alarmed Mahmoud Abbas.

As the NPR article concludes with this quote from Kuperwasser: ""Life is full of contradictions and strange things."
