Israeli Police Brutally Torture Palestinian Boy in Retaliation to Murders

This should not happen anywhere. If the reports are true, then Israel had better take serious action against the culprits and make a formal apology and make proper restitutions.

You live in a lopsided world, Israel isn't going to do anything about it. This is very common and so are clashes very common due to the nature of the conflict which as an essential character of maintaining an occupation.

This didn't happen in Israeli territory.

I sure hope so but i doubt any action will be taken against the officers involved. Israelis enjoy immunity when it comes to committing crimes and getting away with them, even if the victim is a American citizen.

I doubt that. Even when a senior al qaeda leader (Anwar Awlaki) openly waging war against USA was killed in a drone strike, there were serious questions raised about the ethic behind that, since he was a US citizen. So if an American teenager is brutalized, I'm sure there will be repercussions. Say what you want about them, but the US takes the liberties of its citizens seriously.

When it comes to any country besides Israel then yes, remember Rachel Corrie.

Well the Rachel Corrie case is not as open and shut as you are making it out to be. That could have been accidental as the Israelis claimed.

But in any case, it is Israeli law that ought to punish these policemen. Whether the victim was an American citizen or not should be irrelevant to how Israeli courts judge the perpetrators. As I said before, it should not be done to anybody - American or Palestinian or German. I only mentioned his status as an American citizen because that makes it interesting to see how the US would react. But from Israel's POV, if their policemen commit an atrocity, those policemen ought to be punished, regardless of who the victim is.

Some beatings similar to that occur in the US and worse elsewhere around the world. These in Israel aren't police or a state institution within their borders. In the US for example we have county and city police. Charges can be filed against police if such an incident occurred especially if there is visual evidence.

However, this incident is in the occupied West Bank. Key word here->occupied. This is Israeli government policy to maintain an occupation, beatings like this are very common. Palestinian individuals can't just file charges, they aren't in a single state. They are in occupied territory with shared control. They can however try publicizing these incidents and him being an US citizen helps that effort.

I'm not sure about the nitty gritties of this situation as yet, but in general police forces are still bound by laws and the legal system. For one thing, if what you consider as "occupied territory" is considered by Israel as its own territory, then every law applicable in Israel should be applicable there. If Israel considers it foreign territory under its control, then strictly speaking these are not police forces (not law enforcement agencies). I'm not sure what Israeli laws are regarding such forces in such territories, but my guess is that they would have laws against excessive use of force. If they didn't, then any bigoted policeman/soldier can do anything he wants in the occupied territories.

Even soldiers in war are supposed to follow certain laws. (Whether they do or not is another matter.)

Please tag a few Israeli members here, let's hear from them.

I saw the photograph of that boy.

It's pretty disconcerting :/

Poor guy.

There was a Turkish American boy on the Mavi Mamara who was killed by the Israeli raid and, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think US did anything about that so I don't know what to expect here.

In battle field there is a thing called honor. At any case or whatever the situation soldiers or police must not use excessive force against childrens, womens and old people.

This is a shameless act from Israel.
If they want to stamp someone then do it against mens at their own size.

@Desert Fox Occupiers have no heart...be it Israelis or Indians...when it comes to their insecurity they will kill even a 1 year old baby...just like Firaun(Pharaoh) wanted to kill little Musa[Moses](A.S).
