Housing Minister Yoav Galant also charges that the rule of the Assad regime is the worst since the Nazis in WWII.

Housing Minister Yoav Galant called for the assassination of Syrian President Bashar Assad following the reports of the regime using a crematorium to hide their atrocities outside Damascus.

“The reality in which people are executed in Syria, being hit deliberately by chemical weapons, their bodies being burned, something we haven’t seen in 70 years, we are crossing a red line and it is time to eliminate Assad, literally,” Galant, a former major-general in th eIDF and a current member of the National Security Council, said on Tuesday at the Second International Ground Warfare and Logistics Conference at Latrun outside of Jerusalem.

Earlier on Tuesday, in an interview with Army Radio, Galant charged that the rule of the Assad regime was the worst since the Nazis led by Adolf Hitler in Germany during WWII.

"What is happening in Syria is defined as genocide, under all its classifications," he told Army Radio. The Kulanu minister added that Israel wants to see the Assad and his Alawite regime fall from power and be replaced by a moderate Sunni ruler.

The US State Department on Monday accused the Assad regime of having constructed a crematorium at the notorious Sednaya military prison near Damascus to burn the bodies of prisoners that continue to be executed inside.

"Beginning in 2013, the Syrian regime modified a building within the Saydnaya complex to support what we believe is a crematorium," said Assistant Secretary of State Stuart Jones, adding that “we believe that the building of a crematorium is an effort to cover up the extent of mass murders taking place in Sednaya prison.”

“These atrocities have been carried out seemingly with the unconditional support from Russia and Iran,” the main backers of the Assad regime.

According to Galant, while it is unclear whether or not the crematorium was in use for all those years, it is imperative that something must now be done. The Obama administration made a “strategic mistake” Galant said by “deviating” from the course of supporting Sunni countries in order to try to come closer to Shi'ite countries, something which Galant said is different in the Trump administration.

Up until a year-and-a-half ago, Syria looked like it was heading towards a Sunni rule, but following the Russian intervention, who used methods first used in Chechnya such as blockading cities while continuing aerial bombardments, the will of the rebels to fight was broken and the tides turned. But while the Russians are currently backing Assad, they realize the importance of the region and understand who they are aligned with, Galant said.

“They realize that once the war is over there will still be 20 million Sunnis in Syria who will be wanting to avenge their dead and the Russians know they will be a target,” Galant said adding that the Russians will “seek avenues to make relations better with the Sunnis, including sacrificing Assad.”

The major threat to Israel remains Iran, which wishes to open up a Shiite land bridge from Tehran through Iraq to Damascus in order to get to Israel. ·

“What is behind Syria is Hezbollah who is backed by Iran. Iran is a danger to the security of the entire world. Iran is the problem, not the solution.” By getting to Assad, Galant said, we get to Tehran.

“When we get the tail of the snake we can get the head in Tehran too.”

Housing minster Galant, a former major-general, would probably become a defense minister sooner a later.

. . .
And then Israelis wonder why some people may get the idea that Israel behaves as a rogue state, when you have sitting members of parliament and ministers coming up with these stupid statements?

.

Maybe. So what? Assad is 1 man. There are millions of Syrians. Hebrews can't kill every Arab even if they try. Hebrews used to dominate the ME. Then they got conquered by Arabs. They lost the war thousands of years ago.

We were not conquered by the Arabs, we were conquered by the Romans.

Coming from the guy that was born in Pakistan, that threatened to nuke Israel over fake news

Nazis of ME (Israelis) comparing others to Nazis, well that's the irony.
Ironically told by an Iranian

Coming from the guy that was born in Pakistan, that threatened to nuke Israel over fake news

Well that guy is a moron and should have studied the news that he was responding to in-depth. But his reaction was to a statement that he believed was made by an Israeli minister about a nuclear threat. In his mind he was replying to a nuclear threat. I am not defending him, but his statement was understandable if he truly believed the statement by the Israelis were true on Pakistan.

He said Pakistan would retaliate in kind, now please tell me when Assad said he was going to assassinate the Israeli Prime minister?

He is not in a position to make such a threat, why would he say that?

During the 2nd millennium BC, Ancient Egyptian texts use the term Canaan to refer to an Egyptian-ruled colony

In the early Late Bronze Age, Canaanite confederacies were centered on Megiddo and Kadesh, before again being brought into the Egyptian Empire and Hittite Empire. Later still, the region was conquered into the Neo Assyrian Empire.

In the centuries preceding the appearance of the biblical Hebrews, parts of Canaan and southwestern Syria became tributary to the Egyptian Pharaohs, although domination by the Egyptians was sporadic, and not strong enough to prevent frequent local rebellions and inter-city struggles. Other areas such as northern Canaan and northern Syria came to be ruled by the Assyrians during this period.

Under Thutmose III (1479–1426 BC) and Amenhotep II (1427–1400 BC), the regular presence of the strong hand of the Egyptian ruler and his armies kept the Amorites and Canaanites sufficiently loyal.

From the mid 14th century BC through to the 11th century BC, much of Canaan (particularly the north, central and eastern regions of Syria and the north western Mediterranean coastal regions) fell to the Middle Assyrian Empire

The Babylonians inherited the western part of the empire of their Assyrian brethren, including all the lands in Canaan and Syria, together with Israel and Judah.

The Israelites (/ˈɪzriəˌlaɪtsˌ/; Hebrew: בני ישראל‎‎ Beni Yisra'el)[1] were a Semitic-speaking people of the ancient Near East, who inhabited a part of Canaan during the tribal and monarchic periods.[2][3][4][5][6] The ancient Israelites are considered to be an outgrowth of the indigenous Canaanite populations that long inhabited the Southern Levant, Syria, ancient Israel and the Transjordan.[7][8][9]

The later Assyrian rulers Sargon II and his son and successor, Sennacherib, were responsible for finishing the twenty-year demise of Israel's northern ten-tribe kingdom, although they did not overtake the Southern Kingdom. Jerusalem was besieged, but not taken. The tribes forcibly resettled by Assyria later became known as the Ten Lost Tribes.

So ignored the part about Israelites being from the Canaanites. Ok, you got conquered by us and there is nothing shameful about that.
