Israeli military forces have conducted intensive exercises that simulate a ground invasion of southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, a report says.

Lebanon-based Al-Manar TV network on Wednesday cited military sources from the Israeli regime as saying that the role of the regime’s infantry troops during any war against Hezbollah resistance forces in Lebanon as well as the Palestinian resistance groups in the impoverished Gaza Strip will be essential in efforts to dismantle their rocket-launching capabilities.

The Israeli regime suffered heavy losses during its past military aggression against southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip as a result of the intense volley of rockets launched in response to Israeli aerial and artillery attacks on the two areas.

Israel’s much publicized “Iron Dome” missile system proved incapable of intercepting many of the incoming rockets fired by Palestinian resistance forces in response to Israeli military aggression.

Israel launched a major military offensive against the besieged Gaza Strip on November 14, 2012, leaving over 160 Palestinians, including many women and children, dead and about 1,200 others injured.

Israel’s 2006 offensive against Lebanon also killed and injured thousands of Lebanese. Over 120 Israeli soldiers were also killed and over a thousand injured, by far the highest casualties the Israeli military has seen in numerous wars since 1948.
