Israel's foreign minister says a peace deal with the Palestinians is impossible after rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah agreed to form a unity government.
Avigdor Lieberman told Israel Radio on Thursday that Israel should resist pressure to resume talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Lieberman says Abbas is involved in "political terror" and reached the deal Hamas in order to thwart peace talks.
Israel and the West consider Hamas a terrorist group.
The Palestinian factions have been split since Hamas seized the Gaza Strip from Abbas' forces in 2007. It remains unclear how the unity plan would succeed since past attempts have repeatedly failed.
The U.S. condemned the agreement announced on Wednesday, and Israel cancelled a planned meeting between Israeli and Palestinian peace negotiators.

The reaction from the Israeli government has been hysterical, of course at first they were saying the lack of unity is what derails peace talks, now that they're united they say unity completely ruins chances of 'peace' talks. Which is what I predicted by the way, I told everybody it's a game which they will play.

However, the reaction by the majority of the world has been positive, the Palestinians are just asking for their legal rights. Israel is asking the world to integrate illegally acquired non-Israeli territory into their state.

If you asked my independent comments then i must say it was a best time to Israel to negotiate because now both parties is considered as one and it is win win situation for both side and peace chances is increases in this way and you don't have to made to separate peace deal with Hamas and Fatah

according to Israel before the unity agreement , peace deal is impossible because palestinian are not united after unity agreement peace deal is impossible because palestinian are united.

let sum it up ,as we always said peace deal is impossible because zionists want the greater israel.

Israel cannot negotiate with Hamas which is a terror organisation that calls for the destruction of Israel.

The international community, not Israel, declared on three basic conditions that any Palestinian government should adopt if it wants to be considered as a legitimate partner in the peace process:
  • A Palestinian state must recognize the state of Israel without prejudging what various grievances or claims are appropriate.
  • Abide by previous diplomatic agreements.
  • Renounce violence as a means of achieving goals.
Hamas is refusing to adopt these principles and even to recognize that Israel has the right to exist. How and why should Israel negotiate with a terror organisation which do not even accept its existence?

There is difference between recognizing Israel as a state and recognizing Israel as a Jewish state.
The latter is fully understandable that the Palestinians (whether PLO or Hamas) are not going to accept, because Jews are not the only citizens in Israel "proper".

It would be like saying that Belgium is a Flemish state.

Do you see the predicament?

The condition for negotiation is just to recognize Israel, and Hamas is refusing to do that. the PA did not recognize Israel as a the nation state of the Jewish people, but Israel is ready to negotiate with it.

Of course any agreement must be based on mutual recognition: Israel is ready the accept the creation of an independent state for the Palestinians and the PA is obliged to accept Israel as the Jewish nation state. That is hardly mean that Arabs cannot be Israeli citizens - currently 20% of Israel's citizens are Arabs/Non Jews.

If peace deal is made (which is a huge if) then why should Palestinians recognize Israel as the Jewish nation state?
It can recognize Israel as an Israeli state.

And the Jews that are left in the future Palestinian state would be living under Palestinian sovereignty, and hence would also be recognized as Palestinians. Even if they are Jews, and not Arabs.
You need to differentiate between a race and nationality.
It would be like saying Iran is Persian state, which makes no sense. Iran is an Iranian state. Do you see what I mean?

The return of Sinai to Egyptian sovereignty and peace deal with Israel was not conditioned on Egypt recognizing Israel as a Jewish state, but a sovereign Israeli state, with which it could uphold a treaty.
This "Jewish state" thing is a made up issue by the Likudniks, because they dont a sovereign Palestinian state under any circumstances.

First, do you agree to the condition that Hamas must recognize Israel in order for any negotiation to take place? Do you understand why the Palestinian move is against the negotiation?

So it was the JEWS behind the "reunification" to break peace again

Israel cannot negotiate with Hamas which is a terror organisation that calls for the destruction of Israel.
Calling for the destruction of terrorists is very good
Israel create zionist Al Qaeda beheaders

The Jews are behind everything - the spread of Aids, world hunger, global warming, earthquakes.

Whatever, so Israel cannot negotiate with an entity which poised to destroy it. Why do you complain?

This is just beyond stupid from israel

You dont negotiate with your friends you negotiate with your enemies

If you jusy make a deal with fatah then its useless because millions of Palestinians wont be included or have agreed to the deal

First you require a unified Palestine so they can negotiate on behalf of all Palestinians a comprehensive agreement that has been accepted by all Palestinians

This is just retarded on israels part and part of the endless stupid israeli pre conditions and barriers to peace

I agree, Israel must negotiate with its enemies and it already does that. But first this enemy must accept our right to exist, otherwise what there is to talk about?
