It was a retaliation for rocket fire earlier that day.
Fat chance, just in the Israeli dream...All the target have been destroyed...
Total failure of the second Israeli air raid on Damascus in 2019

The Syrian anti-aircraft defenses completely defeated yet another Israeli air attack, the second in 2019, targeting the international airport of Damascus and the southwest of the Syrian capital.
No missile or hostile projectile could reach the ground. The Pantsir S1 and the Buk of Syrian Air Defense intercepted and destroyed in flight the seven missiles fired from F-16 off the Mediterranean.
The Damascus International Airport had just been renovated by the Russians and a Chinese company.
According to information provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense, four F-16 Israeli air forces flying at high speed over the Mediterranean fired a guided missile salvo aimed at Damascus International Airport.
These missiles were intercepted by S-200s in the phase of entry into the airspace and then by Pantsir S-1 in the final approach phase.
There were two explosions around the airfield but Syrian sources attributed them to mortar shell attacks.
On the Israeli side, it is the radio silence as usual, but the staff announced the interception by the anti-missile defense (ABM) of a projectile from Syria over the disputed Golan Heights.
In the recent past, Syrians fired SAM missiles at Israeli planes fleeing Lebanese airspace into Israel after a raid on Syria. Four or five SAM S-200 missiles fell in different places inside Israel.
This new Israeli raid on Syria proves that despite the testing of new techniques of Israeli air strikes, the result is more and more disappointing and this time, no projectiles could touch the ground. This new situation has triggered a heated debate among Israeli military experts for whom it is now clear that missiles, including cruise missiles and Air-Sol guided bombs have velocity too slow to be easily intercepted by an air defense equipped with a system of warning and detection quite powerful.
The strategic balance is no longer in favor of Israel in the conflict in the Levant and so far the many Israeli attempts to break through the air defense bubble over Greater Damascus are not getting any encouraging results.
The end of Israeli air supremacy in the Middle East is experienced as a national tragedy in Israel. This is one of the most unexpected results of the failure of the "Arab Spring".
